‘The Creek’ at Albion Park is the place to be for harness racing on Saturday night with a host of big races set for the eight-race card, while Geelong is where we situate for Victoria’s meeting.
The best best across both meetings are in.
Geelong Race 6
#2 Santa Casa Beach
This race was suppose to be run at Cranbourne last week but weather conditions and descending fog caused an abandoned the meeting.
Nevertheless, we had Triple Eight on top that night but there looks to be a big inclusion in the race who has thrown a spanner in the works.
That inclusion is Santa Casa Beach who now looks the likely leader from Always Fast.
If Santa Casa Beach can find the front without too much hassle there is every chance he goes on to win this.
Triple Eight will be flashing home late in the race but our selection should have enough of a gap on him to hold on.
Suggested Bet: Santa Casa Beach win at $3.7
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 9/ 1, 2, 9/ 1, 2, 8, 9
Geelong Race 7
#6 Sleepee
Sleepee has this race at her mercy given how far ahead of Majestuoso and Keayang Livana she is likely to be on the map.
Expecting Chris Alford to assume the front-running role here in an attempt to gain a major advantage over this two main threats.
She has a fitness edge over the favourite in this race that should be what helps her hold on from the late finishing burst possessed by Andy Gath’s runner star pacer.
Would not be a surprise to see the prices between Sleepee and Majestuoso flip closer to the jump.
Suggested Bet: Sleepee win at $3
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 6/ 12/ Field
Albion Park Race 4
#13 Pink Galahs
With the heats for the Darrell Alexander Trotting Final run and won, Pink Galahs looks ideally placed to cap off her two heat wins with victory here.
She has had to concede a 20-metre handicap at the standing starts of her last two runs but has swamped her opposition without concern.
It got a bit shaky last start when she nabbed GodofThunder right on the line but she had to contend with dropping back in distance.
She goes back up to 2647 metres tonight and good luck beating her if she runs up to her last two efforts.
Suggested Bet: Spankem each-way at $9 the win and $1.75 the place.
Albion Park race 6
#8 The Stunning Nun
The Stunning Nun is simply airborne at the moment.
She boasts an impressive five wins from her last six starts to prove how well she is travelling.
Her only defeat in that period was to Spellbound who is one of the favoured runners in this race.
Gate eight might be a touch awkward for our selection but as we see so often in these big races, the early speed can be very hot.
Hoping the field strings out early and allows the Jason Grimson-trained mare to get a trailing run behind the leaders.
Suggested Bet: The Stunning Nun each-way at $10 the win and $2.30 the place.
Albion Park Race 7
#5 Copy That
Playing with fire here in the hope of not being burnt.
King Of Swing is undoubtedly the best horse in Australian harness racing but he has to produce something amazing to win from the second row.
That is why we are going with Copy That who is drawn to get all the favours ahead of King Of Swing.
Copy That’s effort in The Rising Sun is more than good enough to win this.
He loomed up ominously to win the $250,000 event last week but faded out late after a tough run.
Having a massive play on him to take the throne off King of Swing even if it is only for one night.
Suggested Bet: Copy That win at $2.10
