The All-Star Mile is a $2 million Group 1 race, run over 1600 metres under weight-for-age conditions at Flemington. It began in 2019 with a public vote deciding most of the field; since 2025 the 16-horse field has been filled by Win and You’re In qualifying races and wildcards, and the race carries Group 1 status.
The 2027 All-Star Mile will be run at Flemington on Super Saturday, 6 March 2027, on the same card as the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap, with the date and $2 million purse confirmed by the Victoria Racing Club. Tom Kitten is the horse to beat after winning the race in both 2025 and 2026.

About the Race
First run in 2019, the All-Star Mile has quickly become one of Australia’s most exciting and unique races. For its first five editions racing fans voted for the horses they wanted to see, which produced a mix of elite Group performers and cult heroes. Racing Victoria overhauled the concept from 2025: the race gained Group 1 status, the field is now restricted to 16 runners who qualify through Win and You’re In races such as the C.F. Orr Stakes, Futurity Stakes, Blamey Stakes and Australian Guineas, and a joint VRC and RV panel hands out wildcards to emerging talent and interstate horses.
Run under weight-for-age conditions at 1600 metres, the race now has a permanent home at Flemington on Super Saturday, sharing the card with the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap. It carries $2 million in prize money, down from the $5 million of its early years, but the honour roll already includes Mystic Journey, Zaaki, Mr Brightside and Pride Of Jenni. Godolphin’s Tom Kitten made history in 2026 as the first horse to win the race twice, holding off Evaporate by 0.4 lengths with Pride Of Jenni third, having beaten Mr Brightside in 2025. The concept has been embraced by punters, trainers, and fans alike, making it a highlight of the Melbourne Autumn Carnival.
When is the Next All-Star Mile?
The 2027 All-Star Mile will be run at Flemington on Saturday 6 March 2027, the Super Saturday meeting that sits between Australian Guineas Day and TAB Australian Cup Day in the Flemington Autumn Carnival. The Victoria Racing Club has confirmed the date and the $2 million purse. The Win and You’re In races run through February, the final 16-horse field is settled in race week after the wildcards are announced, and the barrier draw follows the Wednesday acceptances.
