Melton Harness Tips & Previews, Saturday 5th February

Three Group 1s are on the card at Melton as we get for the best bets ahead of the BetDeluxe Saturday night harness racing preview.

Melton hosts a massive night of harness racing on Saturday as get set for three Group 1s headlined by the $500,000 Hunter Cup.

Our harness racing experts are back after a little break and ready to bring you the winners.

melton race 1

#10 youaremy sunshine

Youaremy Sunshine might be drawn in death valley having found himself parked out wide in second row, but he has the form and talent to negate that obstacle.

He resumed first-up after having a year-and-a-half away from the races and acquitted himself well before careering away to score a nice win in a race that, on paper, seemed to be a little harder than this.

The query on him so early in his preparation was the race fitness he needed to derive in order to get somewhere near his best form.

His fitness has clearly come on leaps and bounds since that resuming effort and he will only improve with more racing under his belt.

As we said, he has to negate a tricky draw, but he gets the master in Chris Alford to determine the course of action in this race.

Suggested Bet: Youaremy Sunshine win at $3.3

Suggested Exotic: Exacta – 10 & 2

Melton race 6

#6 bondi lockdown

If you are looking for a shorty to make the best, back Bondi Lockdown and forget the rest.

Simply, he could very well be the next star of Australian harness racing having notched up multiple Group 1 victories and he is currently on the tear with a four-race winning streak.

In all probability, Aaron Dunn should be able to find the lead without too much hassle.

If he controls the race from the front and nothing tries to kick up and turn this race into an early war, then it is all over.

Keep an eye on the mile rate and the clock with this pacer.

Suggested Bet: Bondi Lockdown win at $1.80

melton race 7

#8 amazing dream

The huge query coming into this race is whether or not out and out champion King of Swing kicks up from the inside fast enough to hold the lead.

Even if he does lead, he will still be vulnerable to the chasing crew in behind him and the one we have settled on to catch him is Amazing Dream.

She drew the second row in the Group 1 Ballarat Pacing Cup a fortnight ago and ran a bottler of a race when being nosed out in a close finish by fellow rival Spirit Of St Louis.

Drawing on the first row in this race will clearly enhance her chances as she can slot in to the running line off the market pegs and not have to make up too many lengths or manufacture miracle runs from the rear.

Suggested Bet: Amazing Dream win at $3.70

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 4, 8

melton race 8

#3 Im Off N Gone

There are form lines galore in this race and the one that stands out is the winning run of New Zealand mare Im Off N Gone.

Since coming over from across the Tasman Sea, she has been building her credentials dowunder with some solid performances and her last two starts really catapulted her in the rankings of gun mares in Victoria.

Her best effort was last start at Ballarat over 2200 metres when she launched her sprint and won by an official margin worth six metres.

Do not mind the drop back to this distance range either, especially with the early speed likely to be engaged in this race.

It looks as though it is going be a true test of stamina and jumping from gate three should see her get the ideal trailing run.

She showed us she can handle the Melton course by winning here two starts ago and there is no reason she cannot go on with it in this race.

Suggested Bet: Im Off N Gone win at $4.8

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 3
