Australia vs. Germany

July 21st 6:20pm

Australia continues on its quest for gold at the Olympics when it meets Germany on Saturday night.

The Boomers survived a cagey affair against Italy with a 86-83 victory in a game which saw the Australian offence spread its load evenly throughout the contest.

Coach Brian Goorjian, however, will have to deal without the influence of Aron Baynes who has been ruled out of the games with a neck injury.

Germany secured its first victory with a 99-92 victory over Mike Brown’s Nigeria after succumbing to defeat against Italy in game one.

This is obviously a much sterner test for the Germans and will likely have to face the brunt of a Patty Mills offensive display.

Mills was well held in the victory over Italy and will be keen to bounce back with a big point-scoring display.

Nicholas Kay and Jock Landale proved their worth against Italy but Goorjian would have been most impressed with the hustle display by his men.

The Boomers racked up 13 offensive rebounds against Italy and it is an area of the game it will attempt to exploit against Germany.

German centre Johannes Voigtmann will be the danger in offence after he scored 19 points in the win over Nigeria.

Australia, however, should have too much firepower to cough this one up.

Suggested Bets:
Joe Ingles 15+ points into Australia win at $3
Australia -8.5 at $1.92
