Warwick Farm and Caulfield Heath are the feature meetings this Wednesday. With plenty of value on offer and competitive benchmark racing expected at both venues, find out below who our experts are expecting to take home the mid-week cash
Warwick Farm Race 5
#2 Gambler
Gambler was a brilliant last start winner at Hawkesbury. The Capitalist gelding showed his rivals a clean pair of heels, and he comes to town up and about. I suspect he has the fitness edge after a lengthy and consistent campaign, and I expect him to look the winner as they run for the doctor. His record at the distance is outstanding, and the early market support speaks volumes. Big watch!
Tai Lung is racing well on the country and provincial circuits. The Fighting Sun gelding deserves his shot at this level, and the 3kg apprentice claim puts him into all winning conversations. The rising eight-year-old is a 1000m specialist, and a win here would be a great reward for effort. The class rise is his biggest obstacle.
Taxation resumes with an air of expectation. The I am Invincible Filly has been turning heads at the jump-outs, and she has been crunched since acceptances. The lightly raced three-year-old has made a near-perfect start to her career, and she looks well placed here. Acid test!
Suggested Bet: Gambler @ $6.50
Warwick Farm RACE 7
#6 Amreekiyah
Amreekiyah was a brave last start winner at Randwick. It was a great relief for her camp and supporters, and I suspect she can go on with it now the monkey is off her back. She meets a similar field, and the current track conditions suit the enigmatic mare to a tee. The Snowden yard is airborne at present, and I expect her opening quote to shorten significantly before the barriers open. The awkward gate is the primary concern.
Nana’s Wish can run a race first-up from a spell. The Belardo mare has trialled exceptionally well leading into her fresh assignment, and she traditionally performs well early into her campaign. The 2kg apprentice claim could prove decisive, and I suspect her best performance here would prove too strong for her rivals. Tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of a contest.
Conchiero is ready to win. Both performances this campaign have been good without winning, and I suspect the Pierata gelding has been trained to the minute for his third-up assignment. The talented four-year-old is always thereabouts, and I expect him to figure in the finish with even luck in transit. Take on trust!
Suggested Bet: Amreekiyah @ $3.50
Caulfield Heath Race 6
#4 Stolen Art
Stolen Art is too consistent to dismiss. The Flying Artie gelding always gives 100%, and this looks a very winnable assignment. The gritty five-year-old should be rock-hard fit after a lengthy campaign, and I suspect this has been a long-range target from the astute camp. The middle draw will allow him to camp behind the speed, and if he sees clear air as heads turn for home, he can lob to win.
Kyle is racing better than the form guide suggests. The Shooting To Win gelding has been luckless in several runs this campaign, and the camp will be praying for a change in fortune. The big boy finds a suitable event, and his best effort here would see him fight out the finish. His overall winning record is the primary concern.
Attain is knocking on the door. The Outreach gelding has filled the bridesmaid position on several occasions this preparation, and I suspect he is poised to go one spot better on Wednesday. He meets similar opposition, and the drop in distance could prove a training masterstroke. Needs to put another victory on the board!
Suggested Bet: Stolen Art @ $19.00
cAULFIELD HEATH Race 8
#3 Excess
Excess is ready to explode third-up from a spell. Both outings this campaign have put the writing on the wall for a big campaign, and the camp have ideally placed the Snitzel mare. He looks the likely leader on paper, and if he can cheat the clock throughout, the fat lady maybe in full voice before they enter the final furlong. Clearly the one to beat!
Shadhavar will have plenty of supporters after producing several eye-catching barrier trials leading into her first-up assignment. Her record at the distance must be respected, and she traditionally performs well first-up. The Craig Williams factor must be respected, and the inside draw puts one hoof on the till. Major threat.
Pando’s Pride is over the odds. The addition of a senior jockey is advantageous, and I suspect the Pride Of Dubai gelding is ready to sprout wings. The five-year-old was good without threatening in a strong form race, and he meets easier opposition on Wednesday. I suspect it may pay dividends to watch for any late and significant market support.
