Kensington and Caulfield Heath are the feature mid-week meetings this Wednesday. With autumn racing in full swing, find out who our experts are expecting to stand up and announce themselves!
Kensington Race 5
#4 Introducing
Introducing is ready to win. The Trapeze Artist gelding was good without threatening first-up at Warwick Farm, and he meets easier opposition on Wednesday. I suspect he will be cherry-ripe after a little freshen-up, and his camp is training winners for fun at present. His overall success rate is the primary concern.
Wizard Of Oz reached dizzy heights during the spring. The Exceed And Excel entire strips fitter after a recent outing, and he deserves his shot at this level. He was previously a winner at the distance, and he was specked at a decent price in early betting. From the middle gate he will roll forward and make his own luck, and if he can cheat the clock throughout, he can run a cheeky race. This is his acid test!
O’tycoon is too consistent to pot. All runs this preparation have been full of merit, and the Written Tycoon gelding simply doesn’t know how to run a bad race. From the inside draw I suspect the big boy will occupy the box seat throughout, and if the gaps appear at the right time, he can make his presence felt late.
Suggested Bet: Introducing @ $3.60
Kensington RACE 6
#4 Infinitive
Infinitive looks the good thing of the day on a very tricky and competitive program. The Hellbent mare was luckless second-up, and I suspect she is ready to peak third-up from a spell over the longer trip. There has been a flood of money for her in early betting, and I expect her price to shorten significantly with champion hoop James McDonald in the saddle. The Chris Waller factor should never be underestimated. Push the chips in.
French Bonnet is ready to peak. Both runs this campaign have been good without winning, and she has been screaming out for the longer trip since the first fleet arrived. From barrier four, she will push forward and pilot the field, and if she can avoid an early-speed battle, she can lead her rivals in a merry dance. She needs to notch up another win!
For Victory has a sense of timing. The Mehmas gelding has been performing admirably in weaker races, and he looks well-suited under the handicap scale. The distance won’t pose any problems, and I suspect he has been set to peak for this assignment. His racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.
Suggested Bet: Infinitive @ $2.75
Caulfield Heath Race 4
#2 Bavicia
Bavicia was a brilliant second-up winner at Sandown-Hillside. The Almanzo gelding has plenty of natural improvement to come for the preparation, and the 1800m looks ideal at this stage of his campaign. From barrier three, he will drift back and watch the race unfold, and if he doesn’t get too far out of his ground during the early stages of the race, he can gobble up his rivals late. Watch for the big boy late!
Tolpuddle is over the odds. The Pierro gelding has been good in some hot-form races and looks suited to meeting easier company. The longer trip is advantageous, and the perfect inside barrier will give him every opportunity to run out a strong race. It may pay dividends to watch for any significant market support.
Zambrero has been crunched since markets opened. The Stratum Star gelding has been racing consistently, and his next win is just around the corner. The talented five-year-old has rubbed shoulders with some good gallopers this campaign, and his best form reads incredibly well for this event. A must for all broader multiples and exotics.
Suggested Bet: Bavicia @ $3.40
Caulfield Heath Race 7
#1 Epic Centre
Epic Centre led from barrier to post at his latest outing. He is a 1000m specialist and goes faster than last week’s pay on top of the speed. He will push forward and burn the turf from barrier two, and if his opponents are a run short, he may prove hard to run down. I suspect he has the fitness edge of his rivals and will look like the winner as they run for the doctor. The allocated weight is the primary concern.
Dio was a dominant last-start winner at Bendigo. The Zoustar gelding put his rivals to the sword a long way from home, and I suspect he can take the next level on Wednesday. The apprentice claim is advantageous, and he looks dangerous jumping from an inside draw. His record at the distance must be respected.
Mr Moppett looks excellent each way value. The Sizzling gelding is racing in fine style, and he should get all the favours in transit from barrier one. If he produces his best performance, he could be fences and panels better than his rivals. The rising seven-year-old has been an owner’s dream, and I suspect he still has plenty to offer in his racing career. He will be thereabouts.
Suggested Bet: Epic Centre @ $6.00
