Mildura harness racing club takes the limelight on Saturday night as we prepare for the running of the Mildura Pacing Cup Final.
We take a look at the 10-race card and a runner a good-each way oods in the main event has caught the eye of the BetDeluxe team.
mildura race 2
#6 skippers swan song
This race looks to have a lot of early to mid-race speed in it and as such that should set up well for the Scott Garraway-trained and Ellen Tormey-ridden Skippers Swan Song to win this.
She was flushed out wide when making her run at Mildura over the 1790 meters last start when dropping back in distance and finished off bravely enough to nab fourth spot.
That run looks to have her ready to fire back up to her more favourable 2190-metre distance range around Mildura and she will be the one flashing home late.
Suggested Bet: Skippers Swan Swong win at $4.2
Suggested Exotic: Exacta – 6 & 1
Mildura race 3
#2 Miss Blue Glory
She returned from a 228-day spell with a luckless run at Ballarat over 1710 metres and then followed that up with a huge run at Kilmore where she was only beaten by 4.5 metres from an impossible spot in the run.
Thinking she gets a much more suitable set up today with her main danger Hayden Bromac drawing her direct outside and pushing forward towards the lead.
Hoping Bellasteel kicks up inside of Miss Blue Glory which should allow driver Zac Phillips to ascertain the one-one position just in behind the leaders.
She is ready to peak third-up into this campaign and looks the best of the night.
Suggested Bet: Miss Blue Glory win at $2.2
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 2/ 3/ Field
Mildura race 4 - Mildura Guineas
#2 Major Angel
Major Angel looks ready to fire first-up after a nice trial at Shepparton to get him geared up for this race.
Aladdin is clearly the one to beat here but the New Zealand import, who shows huge talent, is racing at the tight-turning Mildura track for the first time and it’s unknown whether he will handle the track.
The $1.65 on offer looks poison. Would much rather see what he has on offer and take a punt on a horse who has been racing well around the country scene for a while in the form of Major Angel.
If Daryl Douglas can hold the front and keep Aladdin out, it will go a long way to winning this race.
Suggested Bet: Major Angel each-way at $6.5 the win and $1.9 the place
Mildura Race 6 - australia cup final
#7 carlas mach
Carlas Mach will have to contend with his stablemate being the favourite in this race but he is more than capable of producing an upset to put some cash in our pockets.
Emma Stewart prepares Krafty Bart in this race who is the $1.90 elect after he and Carlas Mach come off Mildura 2190-metre wins on Tuesday.
Carlas Mach actually raced in a higher class than his stable compatriot and it’s surprising to such a gap in the market between the two.
The sign might be that Kate Gath has opted to drive the favourite but Jack Laugher is no slouch either.
Happy to be with Carlas Mach given his ability to handle the Mildura track as well as the price differential.
Suggested Bet: Carlas Mach win at $2.9
Mildura race 8 - Mildura Pacing Cup Final
#10 Malcolms rhythm
This is the race they’ve all come for tonight.
There looks to be a heap of early speed in this race with the favourite Mach Dan, Bulletproof Boy and Silent Major all vying for the front.
Even though the tight-turning circuit usually favours the on-pace runners, Malcolms Rhythm might just be the closer to break that trend.
Did not mind his run in behind Mach Dan last start when he was pulled out wide to make his dash for the cash, but Mach Dan had too easy of a time of it.
The high pressure of this race should enable Malcolms Rhythm to save his energy for one run late in the race with David Aiken looking to pick off the field one by one.
Good each-way bet in a very competitive Mildura Pacing Cup Final.
Suggested Bet: Malcolms Rhythm each-way at $9 the win and $2.30 the place.
