Harness Racing Tips

Saturday Harness Racing Tips and Previews, Friday 26th March

It's a big program from Melton and we've come up with the best bets for the main races on the card.

Group 1 harness racing returns to Melton on Saturday night as we delve into the 11-race program as well as the eight-race card at Menangle.

Plenty of value to be found with the best bets this weekend in an attempt to fill those betting accounts up with cash!

Melton Race 3

#7 Apieceoflou

APieceOfLou has been racing in fantastic form of late having strung together two impressive wins and last start second after being unlucky in the run.

He was eased off the pace early last start at Charlton and was held up at the worst possible time when he was just about to hit full momentum.

He flashed home late to run second in a field of six, but today he looks set to atone for that unlucky ending and get back into winnings ways.

Greg Sugars gets into the sulky for this drive. That last time he piloted this three-year-old gelding from the Greg Norman stable it was a 15-metre victory.

Love the fact that he is drawn a little deeper on the course so he can come up the middle of the track with his run and not be hindered like last start.

Suggested Bet: APieceOfLou win at $2.6

Suggested Exotic: Exacta – 7 & 8

Melton Race 4

#4 Glenavril King

This might only be a seven-horse race but there looks to be a fair bit of early speed engaged in this one and as such we will be siding with Glenarvil King.

The favourite Forty Thieves, Van Mara and Boncel Benjamin will all push forward and it means Glenarvil King should get a lovely camp in behind them and be saved for one finishing burst when the leaders pack up shop.

He fought on gallantly last start to notch up a narrow victory at this track and distance, albeit in the lesser grade, but gets a great chance to make it two wins in a row tonight.

Looks one of the better bets on the program at Melton on Saturday. Very hard to beat.

Suggested Bet: Glenavril King win at $3

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 4/ 1, 2, 4/ 1, 2, 4, 5

Melton race 5

#3 hes under wraps

Completely against the even-money favourite Tangoingwithsierra who first-up after 399-days away from racing.

Going with the second elect in the market Hes Under Wraps who has a fitness edge over the favourite and has raced since resuming with a win on February 13.

The favourite will likely possess the early speed to get to the front here but Hes Under Wraps is no slouch.

Praying that Katy Gath can pour the pressure on early and bust open the fitness of the favourite. Even if she has to sit outside the lead, that should not prove too much of an issue.

He ran well when third in a Listed race at Yarra Glen last start and if he can repeat that with the drop down to R65-79 grade then he will be winning this.

Suggested Bet: Hes Under Wraps $3.2

Melton Race 7

#10 Red Hot Tooth

Red Hot Tooth broke through for her 25th career win last start after a brilliant effort in the Group 3 Scotch Notch Memorial at Melton over 2240 metres.

The eight-year-old Kari Males-trained mare skipped away to win by just over two metres and looked very sharp in doing so.

Her main rival in this race is the five-year-old mare Sleepee who is in a very rich vein of form but does look a bit vulnerable tonight with this race being biggest tests in recent times for the Alison Alford trotter.

There is an abundance of early speed in this race and, while Sleepee is likely to get the lead, she might just burn a little bit too much petrol to get the front.

That should hopefully set it up for Red Hot Tooth to go whoosh with one booming run.

Suggested Bet: Red Hot Tooth win at $4.2
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 6, 10/ 4, 6, 10/ 4, 6, 8, 10

Melton race 9

#4 dels destiny

Dels Destiny looks to get a race that might shape up for us to his absolute best.

CK Spur, Hatchback and Zarem will all push forward in this race, while Dels Destiny will flop out the back and make the final run at the leaders.

The Chris Svanosio-trained and driven four-year-old gelding has won four out of his last six starts and he did have excuses in his only two defeats in that patch.

If they burn early then it will set up perfectly for Dels Destiny to run right over the top of them.

Hopefully Svanosio can make it a great end to the night and drive us to victory!

Suggested Bet: Dels Destiny win at $5
