AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Tips and Previews, Thursday 11th February

The BetDeluxe team have nailed down the selections to three main players who look the best value to win.

Australian golfer Jason Day returns to the course in his bid to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The BetDeluxe team have nailed down the selections to three main players who look the best value to win.

We’ve even found a champion who, albeit not in the best of form, has come up huge odds to win this!

JASON DAY

AUSTRALIA

In a recent media outing, Jason Day said he is confident he has put aside the back injuries and ailments which have caused a heap of grief in career.

One of the most talented golfers on the PGA Tour, Day’s career has continually been halted by injury but it has not stopped him from performing well at Pebble Beach.

He boasts seven top 10 finishes in his career in this event and although he missed the cut at Torrey Pines last month, the Pebble Beach course should suit his style of play perfectly.

A player with his talent is to be ignored at your own peril.

At $15 to win this tournament he looks good value and should be somewhere near the lead, if not in the lead, come day four.

PHIL MICKELSON

USA

How Phil Mickelson is $34 to win this tournament is perplexing.

The 50-year-old veteran of the PGA Tour has won this tournament five times and a few of those wins he was given little chance to prevail, as he is by the market for this event.

Mickelson knows how to get things done even when it seems like he is out of form.

Currently ranked 86th in the world, Mickelson’s recent tournaments have yielded finishing positions of T-55 at +3 in The Masters, T-53 at 1+ in the Farmers Insurance Open and T-53 at the Saudi Open won by Dustin Johnson.

It’s hard to make a confident case for Mickelson to win this event.

A return back home to the United States after time overseas in Dubai might just be what he needs to spark him back into winning ways.

The price we’re getting means we will not have to outlay a big percentage of our bankroll to get a solid return if he does find that tournament winning form.

patrick cantlay

usa

If you want to see what world class golf looks like then go and watch Patrick Cantlay’s final round 11 under par in The American Express a fortnight ago.

It was an incredible barnstorming finish as Cantlay went berserk but he would ultimately fall one shot short of eventual winner Si Woo Kim.

Cantlay is one of the inform players of the ATP Tour over the last six months.

The 28-year-old American won the Zozo Championship at Sherwood in October 2020, followed that up with a T-17 finish at the Masters and recorded a T-13 finish at the Tournament of Champions.

That type of form is more than enough to see him in winning contention deep into the final round of Pebble Beach.

However, this course does bring with it different types of conditions than what Cantlay has faced in prior tournaments.

Cold, wet and windy weather is forecast but with the form Cantlay is in he deserves the tag as tournament favourite and might just very well push his way into the top 10 with a grand performance.
