Warwick Farm and Caulfield Heath are the feature meetings this Wednesday afternoon. With strong autumn racing on offer at both venues, and plenty of prizemoney up for grabs, find out below who our experts are expecting to take home the mid-week cash!
Warwick Farm Race 6
#6 Candlewick
Candlewick resumes with an air of expectations surrounding her. The Pierro filly hardly put a hoof wrong during her debut campaign, and she looks well placed in this company first-up from a spell. The John O’Shea-trained three-year-old draws the perfect inside barrier, and she has trialled exceptionally well, leading her fresh assignment. Hard to toss!
Love And Light was a brilliant first-up winner at Newcastle. The Capitalist mare has plenty of improvement to come for the campaign, and her versatility alone puts her into the finish on Wednesday. The talented four-year-old traditionally performs well second-up, and the step-out trip is ideal at this stage of her campaign. Acid test.
Miss Kim Kar is chasing her fourth win on the bounce. The Pierata filly doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and she deserves her shot at his level. The 3kg apprentice claim is advantageous, and her trainer is racking up winners for fun at present. The significant class rise is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Candlewick @ $3.30
Warwick Farm RACE 7
#2 Piastri
Piastri was good without threatening first-up in a hot from race on the Gold Coast. The Choisir gelding is a second-up winner in a previous preparation, and the 3kg apprentice claim puts one hoof on the till. He finds his pet distance on Wednesday, and I suspect he will occupy the box seat throughout from a perfect inside draw. Clearly the one to beat.
Snack Bar resumes after rubbing shoulders with some serious horses last campaign. The Frosted gelding is silky and looks well-placed to meet easier opposition. His recent jumpouts were ominous, and I suspect he will be fully wound up for a first-up tilt. The carpark draw and his recent winning record are among the primary concerns.
Deprivation is a first-up specialist. The No Nay Never gelding is the class runner of the field, and the 3kg apprentice claim puts him into all winning calculations. The inside draw is advantageous, and he has been well-supported since acceptance. I’d prefer to support him over further and deeper into his preparation.
Suggested Bet: Piastri @ $5.00
Caulfield Heath Race 6
#5 Didn't Miss Many
Didn’t Miss Many caught the eyes of punters late first-up at Sandown. The form out of the race has stood up time and again, and he is undefeated at this stage of his campaign. The D’argento colt oozes class, and his best performance here could be fences and panels better than his rivals. He strips fitter as a result of his fresh outing, and there has been a flood of money for the big boy since markets opened. He will give a good sight!
Narbold will have supporters after producing a teasing run first-up. The Churchill gelding will appreciate the step out in trip, and I suspect he will grain an extra length or two racing against easier opposition. If he doesn’t cover too much ground from the carpark draw during the early stages of the race, and I expect him to make his presence felt late. His fate maybe decided during the first furlong.
Kaluakoi is over the odds. The Zoustar gelding is racing better than it reads in the bible, and I suspect his quote will shorten significantly before the barriers open on Wednesday. His second-up record is sound, and he is 1600m specialist. If he can find the bunny during the early stages of the race, I suspect the fat lady maybe warming up her vocal cords as they run for the doctor.
Suggested Bet: Didn’t Miss Many @ $3.80
Caulfield Heath Race 7
#3 Charming Nic
Charming Nic looks the best bet on a tricky and competitive program. The Nicconi gelding has upside and progression for days, and he finds a very winnable assignment third-up from a spell. The talented three-year-old from the McEvoy camp will camp off the speed, and if he sees clear air as they swing for home, I expect him to prove too strong late. Push the chips in!
Grinzinger Moon is winning for fun at present. The Puissance De Lune filly is building a picket fence next to her name, and she looks the likely leader on paper. Her record at the trip is near perfect, and I suspect she has the fitness edge on the majority of her rivals. She may be vulnerable late if she burns the turf during the race’s early stages.
Steel Move has made an impressive start to his career. The Blue Point gelding was good without winning on debut, and his second-up victory at Pakenham is still fresh in the memory bank. The Jye Mcneil and James Cummings combination must be respected, and his opening quote has been well supported. The significant class rise and allocated weight are his biggest obstacles.
Suggested Bet: Charming Nic @ $3.70
