The $1,000,000 Group 3 ‘The Gong’ is the main event this Saturday at Kembla Grange. With the Group 3 ‘The Warra’ also featuring on the stunning card of racing, a bumper local crowd is expected in Wollongong! In Victoria, the inaugural running of the $1,000,000 ‘The Meteorite’ will have punters flocking to Cranbourne. Find out who our experts are tipping to take home the cash!
Kembla Grange Race 7
#2 ESTADIO MESTALLA
Estadio Mestalla snatched defeat from the jaws of victory at his latest outing. He was home singing ragtime before taking an awkward stride in the shadows. The consistent Galileo Gold gelding finds a winnable assignment on Saturday, and he should be rock-hard fit after a solid preparation. Ready to explode!
Tavi Time has been well supported since acceptances. The Tavistock gelding ran extremely well without winning ‘The Big Dance’, and I suspect he will appreciate meeting easier opposition. His record at the trip must be respected, and the 3kg apprentice claim puts him into all winning conversations. Barrier nine throws a Raygun amongst the pigeons.
Suggested Bet: Estadio Mestalla @ $7.00
Kembla Grange Race 8
#11 STEPARTY
Suggested Bet: Steparty @ $9.00
#3 Hedged
Hedged resumes with an air of expectation. The Capitalist gelding had a stellar autumn preparation, and the form around the freakish Joliestar reads incredibly well for this event. The enigmatic four-year-old traditionally performs well fresh, and the 1000m looks ideal at this stage of his spring campaign. His recent trials were sound, and he has been well-supported in early betting. Hard to toss.
Dragonstone was an impressive last-start winner at Randwick. The Mikki Isle gelding boasts solid performances around some serious gallopers, and the seasoned campaigner is arguably racing in career-best form. The allocated weight and his racing pattern are among the primary concerns.
Suggested Bet: Hedged @ $4.50
Cranbourne Race 7
#2 Wings Of Song
Wings Of Song resumes after a string of impressive barrier trials. The Mendelssohn mare put the picket fence next to her name during the autumn, and she resumes in a very winnable assignment. Barrier one should allow her to sit closer to the peloton throughout, and if she has been prepared for a first-up tilt, she can figure in the finish. A dry track will strengthen her chances.
Tiz Invincible is back in form. Her performance behind Fancify on the first Tuesday in November was a beauty, and I suspect she is ready to explode with the right run in transit. From barrier eight, she can sit in the running line with cover, and if in-form Ben Melham presses the go button at the right time, she will loom to win. Needs to notch up another victory.
Suggested Bet: Wings Of Song @ $17.00
Cranbourne Race 8
#6 Rey Magnerio
Rey Magnerio was braver than Mel Gibson at Flemington on Champions Day. The ultra-consistent Magnus gelding got off the canvas several times during the final furlong, and he his resilience got him over the line by the barest of margins. His record at the distance is near perfect, and he simply doesn’t know how to run a bad race. From barrier four, Jye Mcneil has a menagerie of options, and despite the people’s horse needing to lump 58kg, he looks well placed and poised to strike.
Baraqiel is flying at present. The Snitzel gelding has a perfect racing record away from headquarters, and he finds his pet distance on Saturday. His run behind Sunshine In Paris at the top level was great without winning, and he looks well placed, dropping back sharply in grade. The length of his campaign and the skinny odds on offer are the biggest deterrents.
Suggested Bet: Rey Magnerio @ $6.00
Cranbourne Race 9
#9 It's A Wild Night
It’s A Wild Night is racing well at present. The Vanbrugh gelding has won two on the bounce, and his International form reads incredibly well for this event. The middle draw is advantageous, and the key appointment of the in-form Blake Shinn could prove the winning difference. The versatile five-year-old handles all track conditions and has been heavily supported since markets opened. Hard to toss!
Group 1 proven Pinstriped can return to winner’s circle. The Street Boss gelding had excuses at latest outing, and I suspect he will get more favours in the run on Saturday from a perfect inside draw. He loves the mile more than Jake Paul loves fighting senior citizens, and his best performance here could be fences and panels better than his rivals. Take on trust.
Suggested Bet: It’s A Wild Night @ $4.60
