Sale Race 6

#5 Freight Train

Freight Train was an impressive last-start winner at Sandown. The Shamus Award gelding put his rivals to the sword a long way from home, and I suspect he will appreciate the significant drop in class on Wednesday. His record at the distance must be respected, and he looks dangerous, jumping from a perfect inside barrier. Hard to toss.

Half Yours is flying at present. The St Jean gelding is chasing a hatrick of victories, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority of his opponents. The Benchmark 70 level shouldn’t hold any fears, and there has been an avalanche of money for the big boy in early betting. His racing pattern will always require an element of good fortune.

Electric Impulse has raced well without winning this campaign. The Cable Bay mare has form around some decent gallopers and looks well placed here. Barrier four should allow him to occupy the box seat throughout, and I suspect he is rock hard fit after a lengthy campaign. His recent winning record is the primary concern.

Suggested Bet: Freight Train @ $3.10

Sale RACE 7

#10 Peace Treaty

Peace Treaty caught the eyes of punters fresh. The National Defense mare savaged the line late, and she put the writing on the wall for a fruitful and successful spring campaign. The enigmatic four-year-old is undefeated second-up, and her record at the distance is too good to ignore. She strips fitter after her recent outing and is drawn to perfection. Knocking on the door!

Modown resumes with an air of expectation. The Toronado gelding traditionally performs well first-up, and his recent jumpouts looked ominous. Craig Williams already has a winning association with Charlotte Littlefield, trained four-year-old, and I suspect the camp has some lofty spring goals. The carpark draw is the primary concern.

Masterful looks over the odds. The first-up winner meets similar opposition, and the 4kg apprentice claim puts him into all winning conversations. The Deep Field gelding is ideally drawn in barrier three, and I suspect he will camp on the heels of the leading pair. He can threaten late if the gaps appear at the top of the home straight. Worth consideration.

Suggested Bet: Peace Treaty @ $4.00

Kensington Race 5

#6 Makena

Makena looked good hitting the line late first-up at Canterbury. The Zoustar mare will take benefit from her recent assignment, and she is a winner second-up previously. The good gate will aid her chances, and I suspect she has plenty of improvement to come this campaign. Barrier four is ideal, and the combination of Chris Waller and James McDonald must be respected.

Wings Of Desire will start race favourite after making a perfect start to her racing career. The Pride Of Dubai filly looks progressive and deserves her shot at this level. The longer distance will suit at this stage of her spell, and she should get the perfect cart into the race from the middle gate. Acid test.

Hallett will have supporters after a successful debut preparation. The Deep Field filly was slightly disappointing first-up in a hot form race, and I suspect the camp will have her ready to bounce back on Wednesday. The Gai Waterhouse-trained three-year-old will roll forward from the middle gate, and if she is allowed to dictate throughout, she may prove hard to run down. Include in everything.

Suggested Bet: Makena @ $9.00

Kensington Race 6

#4 Custo

Custo is a model of consistency. The Deep Field gelding hasn’t missed a drum this preparation, and he finds his pet distance here. The tough and resilient five-year-old will lead the field with a clean break and give a good sight if he doesn’t spend all his pennies during the race’s early stages. He is no stranger to carrying weight, and his trainer has an impressive strike rate when he brings one to town. He looks good each-way value.

Another Cognac savaged the line to breakthrough at Warwick Farm first-up. The Zoustar gelding came home from another suburb, and he broke the oncourse clocks in the process. The big boy strips fitter after his recent outing, and the 1000m looks his best distance.  It may dividends to watch for any significant market support.

Mafia can run a drum at double figure odds. The Written Tycoon gelding drops significantly in class, and I suspect his next win is just around the corner. The Peter Snowden gelding should be rock-hard fit at this stage of his preparation, and he has been specked at a price since acceptances were listed. A must for broader multiples and exotics.

Suggested Bet: Custo @ $8.00
