Randwick Tips & Previews, December 24th

Before Santa slides down the chimney, we head to Randwick for a great card of racing. Can anyone stop J Mac and Chris Waller, who look to have a mortgage on the meeting?

Before Santa slides down the chimney, we head to Randwick for a fantastic card of summer racing this Saturday. Can anyone stop James McDonald and Chris Waller who look to have a mortgage on the meeting?

Randwick Race 7

#6 Democracy Manifest

Crowd favourite Democracy Manifest looked classy when winning last start at Rosehill. I can’t wait to see him over a mile, and the bigger Randwick track will suit the well-known back marker. He always needs luck with his pattern of racing, however, he looks well-placed here. The James McDonald and Chris Waller combination must be respected.

Black Sail is the interesting runner here. He has drawn ideally in barrier one and has some impressive form around stakes performed gallopers.

Super Strike can bowl them over third up from a spell. He attacked the line nicely at Rosehill and should be fitter from his latest performances. I expect a peak run.

Suggested Bet: Democracy Manifest @ $2.30

Randwick RACE 8

#2 Kir Royale

I am happy to be with Kir Royale, who remains undefeated second up. She ran on gamely fresh and put the writing on the wall for a next-start win. She will be fitter, and I expect her to be coming home over the top of them late. Benchmark 78 won’t be the ceiling for the I Am Invincible mare.

Sunshine In Paris will start favourite after an eye-catching performance at Doomben last start. The 50kg is a massive advantage, 1200m is ideal, and the Annabel Neasham camp is flying!

Billiondollarbaby looks over the odds after a luckless run. I expect her to be competitive back in mares grade.

Suggested Bet: Kir Royale @ $4.00

Randwick Race 9

#3 Saint Of Katowice

I am very bullish about Saint Of Katowice after a dominant performance at Sandown. He has raced well second up previously and looks well placed here despite being up in grade. 1400m is his ideal distance, he is well drawn, and the Maher & Eustace combination can never be underestimated.

Green Shadows has raced well this preparation without winning. The drop back to 1400m is positive, and the recent barrier trial should have him cherry ripe for this.

Estadio Mestalla can bounce back after a rare flop. He still managed to run the third fastest last 600m despite never looking for a winning chance.

Suggested Bet: Saint Of Katowice @ $8.50

Randwick Race 10

#7 Kalino

Kalino looks well placed here, fresh. His barrier trial win leading into this event was first class, and he will get the desired dry conditions. The Pierro gelding is drawn ideally in a middle gate, and I expect the late money to come for him with James McDonald engaged.

Iowna Merc will start favourite after an impressive last-start win. He will lead them a merry dance on top of the speed, and he may prove challenging to run down with 52.5kg. He looks talented, and he poses a high cruising speed.

Devil’s Throat is a winning chance with the apprentice claim.

Suggested Bet: Kalino @ $4.80
