Day 2 of the Warrnambool carnival is the main racing highlight this Wednesday. Find out below who our experts are expecting to take home the mid-week cash!
Warrnambool Race 4
#1 Point Nepean
Point Nepean was a brilliant last start winner at Hamilton. The rising nine-year-old has trialed well since, and I suspect he is trained to the minute for Wednesday’s assignment. The longer trip suits at this stage of his campaign and career, and I expect him to jump well into the red. The 73kg is the slight concern.
Golden Garden will have plenty of supporters after producing two impressive performances for the campaign. The Olympic Glory gelding strips fitter as a result of recent racing, and the inside draw puts him into all winning conversations. If the heavens open his quote will continue to shorten, and I expect him to fight out the finish if he puts his best foot forward. Acid test!
Field Of Lights is coming off a forgive run at Terang. The Canford Cliffs gelding had genuine excuses, and I expect him to bounce back here. The trip is in his wheelhouse, and he handles all conditions. His record at the ‘Bool’ is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Point Nepean @ $2.20
Warrnambool RACE 6
#1 Highland Blaze
Highland Blaze is one classy customer. The Grand National winner looks well placed here, and I suspect this has been a long-range target from the astute and inform camp. His two runs on the flat this campaign have been more than ominous, and I expect him to explode third-up from a spell on Wednesday. The big boy will eat up the 3200m, and he looks the best bet on a tricky and competitive program.
The Storyteller looks well placed in this company. The Roc De Cambes gelding was ultra impressive at his latest outing at Terang, and with even luck in transit, he can continue on his winning way. He loves the 3200m more than Makybe Diva, and his versatility alone puts him into the mix. The one to beat if the favourite has an off day or experiences traffic issues.
Fabalot is over the odds. Both runs this preparation have caught the eyes of punters, and the flood of early money tells a story. His record at trip must be respected, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority of his rivals. He will look the winner as they run for the doctor.
Suggested Bet: Highland Blaze @ $2.50
Warrnambool Race 7
#6 Thebelmontgangster
Thebelmontgangster resumes after producing an average performance at Caulfield. I suspect his best performance here would prove fences and panels too strong for his rivals, however; the talented four-year-old tends to mix his form. The current track conditions suit to a tee, and the Benchmark 70 shouldn’t pose any issues. The big boy needs to notch up another victory!
Test Of Love is racing well at present. The Time Test gelding recorded back-to-back victories to kick off his campaign, and he was good without threatening at his latest two outings. The form around him has stood up time and again, and he should be rock-hard fit after a solid preparation. The apprentice claim puts one hoof on the till, and his opening quote has been more than nibbled at. The carpark draw is the biggest deterrent.
Enna’s Dream is racing better than it suggests in the bible. The Winning Rupert mare has rubbed shoulders with some handy gallopers, and she looks well placed in this company. The inside draw is advantageous, and the key booking of the inform Nash Rawiller should raise eyebrows. She will be thereabouts.
Suggested Bet: Thebelmontgangster @ $6.00
Warrnambool Race 8
#6 La Fracas
La Fracas is out for redemption after being pipped in a thrilling edition of the Hareeba Stakes at Mornington. Barrier three will allow the Night Of Thunder gelding to camp behind the speed, and the enigmatic five-year-old grows an extra leg with any give in the ground. All runs this campaign have led to Wednesday, and I expect him to produce a peak performance. Hard to toss!
Oliveanotherday is flying at present. The Nicconi gelding is building a nice picket fence, and he deserves his opportunity in this company. The enigmatic three-year-old has upside and potential for days, and I suspect he may be the one to follow out of the race regardless of the result. This is his hardest test to date, however, dismiss at your own peril!
Paradise City has had a stellar campaign to date. The Deep Field mare recorded back-to-back victories at Flemington and Caulfield, respectively, and the stylish galloper looks well placed at this level. The inside draw is ideal, and the drop back to the six furlongs could prove a training master class. Over the odds, and a must for all multiples and exotics.
Suggested Bet: La Fracas @ $4.20
