Caulfield Race 7

#12 Sheza Alibi

Sheza Alibi has one hoof on the till. The Saxon Warrior filly was a dominant last start winner at Flemington, and she looks extremely well placed in this event on Saturday. The flying three-year-old has a decent opportunity to win a Group 2, and I suspect this is her main spring target. The inside draw should give her key opponents sleepless nights leading into this event, and the camp are training winner for fun at present. Hard to beat!

Burma Star is racing well at present. The Exceed And Excel colt hasn’t missed a top two placing since the moon landing, and the form around him has stood up time and again. His last start victory at Flemington was breathtaking, and I suspect he will be trained to the minute for this assignment. Watch for the big boy late!

Suggested Bet: Sheza Alibi @ $1.70

Caulfield Race 8

#5 Angel Capital

Angel Capital savaged the line in the Everest at his latest outing. The Harry Angel entire caught the eyes of punters late, and he put the writing on the wall for a next start victory. The step out to 1400m suits, and the middle gate provides the pilot a menagerie of options in the run. He looks suited at the weights, and I expect him to appear in the shadows. I am unsure his racing pattern and style is suited to the tight turning Caulfield circuit.

Jimmysstar will start an odds-on favourite after producing a dominant victory in the Russell Balding. His performance two starts back in the Everest was braver than Mel Gibson, and I suspect he is racing in career best form. The money trail tells a story, and the big boy is starting to become a fan favourite. I am unsure if this race is an afterthought.

Suggested Bet: Angel Capital @ $3.00

#4 Tupakara

Tupakara can run a big race at a decent quote. The Trapeze Artist filly is performing well without winning, and she looks well placed in this company. The form around her is rock-solid, and the 1200m is in her wheelhouse. The middle gate suits, and I suspect this is her grand final and major target for the spring. She needs to break her maiden!

My Gladiola looks hard to toss. The I Am Invincible filly finished on the heels of Tentyris in the Coolmore Stud Stakes, and I suspect she will jump in the red as a result of the eye-catching performance. Barrier one puts her into all winning calculations, and if she sees clear air as heads turn for home, she may finish too strong. Can she produce another peak run?

Suggested Bet: Tupakara @ $21.00

Newcastle Race 7

#3 Green Spaces

Green Spaces was an impressive first-up victor for his new stable at Wyong. The Street Boss colt sprouted wings late, and he put away a handy field in the process. The inside draw puts him into all winning conversations, and he is undefeated at the trip. The Rachel King and Bjorn Baker combination must be respected, and he has been well supported in most all-in markets. Can win again!

Grand Prairie will start favourite after producing a fruitful campaign to date. The Written Tycoon colt has put two wins on the board this preparation, and he was ok in a strong form race at Flemington at his latest outing. He strips fitter, and he meets easier opposition on Saturday. I fear this race may be an afterthought.

Suggested Bet: Green Spaces @ $4.60

Newcastle Race 8

#14 Yorkshire

Yorkshire resumes with an air of expectation surrounding him. The Snitzel gelding has upside for days, and the lightly raced five-year-old has built a near perfect career record. His recent jump-outs were first-class, and his opening quote disappeared quicker than last weeks’ pay. His first-up record must be respected, and he finds his pet distance. Acid Test!

Estadio Mestalla was sublime at his latest outing. The Galileo Gold gelding won over an unsuitable distance carrying 63kg, and I am still unsure what suburb he flew from to get the chocolates. He trims up as a result of his superman like performance, and the step out in trip is advantageous. He comes in well at the weights, and he doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Barrier 18 is the biggest deterrent.

Suggested Bet: Yorkshire @ $3.30

Newcastle Race 9

#3 Future History

Future History is ready to win. All performances this campaign have been honest, and I suspect the large Broadmeadow circuit will suit the big boy to a tee. The step out in trip suits, and the Ciaron Maher polish must be respected. The form around Middle-earth reads well for this event, and his opening quote has been heavily crunched. His recent winning record is the primary concern.

Grand Pierro will have supporters after producing a consistent campaign to date. The Pierro gelding has been rubbing shoulders with some serious gallopers, and he meets easier opposition here. The 2300m looks ideal at this stage of his campaign, and he is drawn to get all the favours in the run. Dismiss at your own peril.

Suggested Bet: Future History @ $5.50
