Warwick Farm and Sandown Hillside are the feature meetings this Wednesday. With the current season coming to a close and spring in the air, find out who our experts expect to take home the cash!
Kensington Race 6
#5 Influential
Influential was too bad to be true first-up at Rosehill. The Autumn Sun gelding has impressed punters since the trials, and I suspect it will pay dividends to forgive his fresh flop in the mud. The lightly raced three-year-old will thrive stepping out over the mile, and I expect the James McDonald and Chris Waller combination will shorten his quote further before the barriers open. Hard to toss!
Presser looks well placed dropping down in class. The Press Statement gelding has been luckless at his previous couple outings, and his form is better than it reads in the bible. The 3kg apprentice claim is advantageous, and he should be able to take up a prominent role from a middle gate. He needs to put another victory on the board!
Sailor is racing well at present. The Ocean Park gelding finds his pet distance on Wednesday, and I suspect he is ready to produce a peak performance for the preparation. From barrier four, the big boy will roll forward and pilot the field, and if he is left to his own devices throughout, he may prove hard to catch. He tends to find one or two better on race day.
Suggested Bet: Influential @ $2.35
Kensington RACE 7
#2 Flying Destiny
Flying Destiny is ready to peak. The Flying Artie gelding has figured in the finish at all runs this preparation, and he looks dangerous on the quick back-up. The 1300m is in his wheelhouse, and he has been specked at a price in early betting. From barrier eight he will roll forward in search of the lead, and if he can find the bunny uncontested, he will look the winner as they run for the doctor.
Nightingale will start favourite for the Godolphin camp. The Epaulette filly was a brilliant last-start winner, and she oozes class. I suspect there is plenty of improvement to come for the preparation, and she looks dangerous jumping from an inside barrier. The class rise is the primary concern.
The Replicant has been ultra-consistent this preparation. The Tivaci gelding is coming off a string of narrow loses, and he finds a winnable assignment on Wednesday. The rising six-year-old is always thereabouts, and his versatility always takes him along way on race day. His inability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is the biggest deterrent.
Suggested Bet: Flying Destiny @ $6.00
Sandown Lakeside Race 5
#3 Quite The Lass
Quite The Lass is knocking on the door! The Helmet mare savaged the line at her latest outing, and she put the writing on the wall for third-up victory. Her record at the distance must be respected, and the apprentice claim puts one hoof on the till. From barrier six, she can sit midfield in the running line, and if she is presented with her run at the right time, I expect her to prove too strong late for her rivals.
Dunalley was a last-stride winner fresh at Murray Bridge. The Dandino mare traditionally performs well second-up, and she looks poised to strike from a perfect inside draw. The 3kg apprentice claim brings her into all winning conversations, and I suspect the mile is her best distance. Her racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.
Pitchanun will start favourite after a consistent campaign to date. The Savabeel mare is knocking on the door, and all runs this spell have been full of merit. The rising seven-year-old is rock-hard fit, and I suspect she has the fitness edge on the majority of her rivals. Her recent winning record is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Quite The Lass @ $7.00
Sandown Lakeside Race 6
#2 Hanau
Hanau is ready to score. Both performances this campaign have been good without winning, and he strips fitter for his third-up assignment. The step out in distance is ideal at this stage of his preparation, and he has been absolutely crunched since acceptances were released. The current track conditions will suit, and he looks one of the better bets on a tricky program of racing.
Boltsaver is chasing a hatrick of victories. The honest Bolt D’oro gelding handles all conditions, and he deserves his shot at this level on Wednesday. The 1400m plays into his favour, and Jarrod Fry has a strong winning association with the consistent three-year-old. The awkward barrier is the primary concern.
Reprisal is over the odds. The Trapeze Artist gelding is racing well without winning, and his last start performance at headquarters was ominous. From the carpark draw he will drift back and watch the race unfold, and if doesn’t get too far out of his ground during the middle stages of the race, I expect him to figure in the finish.
Suggested Bet: Hanau @ $3.10
