Warwick Farm hosts a monster mid-week program of racing this Wednesday! As the premiership race starts to heat up, who will step up and dominate the competitive metropolitan meeting?

Warwick Farm Race 5

#1 Basarwa

Basarwa looks poised to strike first-up from a spell. The Atlante gelding is making his debut for the powerful Kris Lees stable, and his previous Victorian form reads exceptionally well for this event. His three recent barrier trials will have him cherry-ripe for a first-up tilt, and he looks well placed at Benchmark 78 level. It may pay to watch for any significant market moves.

Julian Rock is knocking on the door! From barrier three, the Invincible Spirit gelding can roll forward, and if he can pinch some cheap sectionals through the middle stages, the race may be over at the furlong. His winning record and his age are the primary concerns.

Huesca hit the line nicely first-up carrying the grandstand. The Not A Single Doubt gelding races well second-up, and the 1300m looks ideal. From a middle gate, Tim Clark can have him the big boy midfield with cover, and if he gets out at the right time, I expect him to figure in the finish. The step up in grade is the biggest concern.

Suggested Bet: Basarwa @ $10.00

Warwick Farm Race 6

#10 Thalursian

Thalursian produced an eye-catching run first-up at Kembla Grange. The Muhaarar gelding is ideally drawn in barrier one, and the step out to 1100m looks advantageous. He handles the sting out of the ground and looks well suited in this grade. He should get the run of the race, and he has already received significant market support. The John Hawkes factor must be respected.

Mr Bingo can peak here after consistent preparation. The Deep Field gelding was brave on top of the speed at Wyong last start, and he should be rock-hard fit after his recent outings. He looks ominous, jumping from barrier three, and the apprentice claim could prove a masterstroke. His winning strike rate is the primary concern.

Auzstar can threaten despite not being missed by the handicapper. The Zoustar geldings’ best form would be competitive here, and he meets easier opposition compared to previous campaigns. If he can recapture his mojo, he is a winning chance.

Suggested Bet: Thalursian @ $12.00

Warwick Farm Race 7

#2 Tsarina Sophia

Tsarina Sophia can bounce back after several below-par performances. The significant class drop is advantageous, and 1200m is her pet distance. The Russian Revolution filly has a fantastic winning record, and she appreciates the softer track conditions. The length of her preparation and awkward barrier are the primary concerns.

Commandment can win on her Australian debut. The Acclamation mare has excellent international form and has produced three impressive barrier trials leading into this event. From barrier two, she can get the run of the race, and the apprentice claim could prove the winning difference. I expect the Kris Lees camp will have her ready to fire first-up for the new stable, and her record at the distance speaks volumes.

Ponca is ready to explode. The American Pharoah filly has been freshened up for this, and 1200m looks ideal for this stage of her campaign. Tyler Schiller has options from a middle gate, and with even luck in transit, I expect her to threaten late.

Suggested Bet: Tsarina Sophia @ $7.00

Warwick Farm Race 8

#5 Sailor

Sailor is in fine form. The Ocean Park gelding doesn’t know how to run a bad race and looks poised to strike from an inside barrier. The apprentice claim is advantageous, and his record at the mile is exceptional. Any further downgrade of the track would see his quote shortened significantly. The length of his preparation is the primary concern.

Silent Agenda is racing in great spirit. The rising eight-year-old hit the line strongly last start and looks ready to peak. The significant class drop helps his case, and he should get the last crack at them inside the final furlong, provided he is given his opportunity. The allocated weight and wide barrier are his biggest obstacles to overcome.

Attractable looks ominous third-up from a spell. The I Am Invincible gelding has produced two teasing runs this preparation, and he is ready to peak stepping out to the mile. His winning record is solid, and he looks ideally placed jumping from a middle gate. His record on soft and heavy tracks is a deterrent.

Suggested Bet: Sailor @ $10.00
