The season’s first major will kick off this Friday when the world’s best golfers head to Augusta National Golf Club for the 2023 US Masters.
18 LIV golfers return to the PGA’s territory as they try to take down the world’s top-ranked players (and PGA Tour members), Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
BetDeluxe has scoured the markets and produced a handful of their favourite bets.
Best Bet: Scottie Scheffler
$7.50
At $7.50 with BetDeluxe, Scottie is the shortest-priced favourite for a reason. The bloke’s a weapon.
The world’s top-ranked golfer is looking to become the first champion to defend his title since Tiger Woods in 2002.
Suppose recent form is anything to go by. In that case, those taking the $7.50 on offer might consider it overs, with Scheffler already winning the Players Championship and Phoenix Open this year and finishing T4 at the Arnold Palmer.
He won this event by three strokes to Rory last year and is simply the form player of the competition.
Suggested Bet: S. Scheffler to win @ $7.50
Next Best: Jon Rahm
$10
Despite a disappointing showing at the Arnold Palmer and withdrawing from the Players last month, Jon Rahm was untouchable when he entered rare air earlier this year.
He shot to World No. 1 for a period with wins at The Sentry Tournament of Champions, The American Express and The Genesis Invitational. For that reason, we love him at double figures in this one.
He leads the FedExCup standings and has four top 10s at Augusta National.
If we forget his last couple of results – each can be explained – then Rahmy is undoubtedly in with his chance.
Suggested Bet: J. Rahm to win @ $10
Best Value: Jason Day
$28
Yes, you’re reading that correctly.
Jason Day presents fantastic value considering the 35yo Australian is playing like he’s ten years younger.
Currently ranked 33rd in the world, Day started the year in 112th but has launched into consideration off the back of four top 10 finishes in six events.
Usually a subpar driver of the ball, a healthy Day has made changes to his swing and now ranks 12th in driving on the US Tour.
He’s also had three top fives at Augusta, so we know he loves the course.
Suggested Bet: J. Day to win @ $28 & Top 5 @ $5.25
Best LIV Bet: Brooks Koepka
$36
But what about our boy Cam? It’s clearly close between the two LIV stars, but Brooks’ recent form and history in majors give him a slight advantage over the Australian.
The four-time major champion has been on record as having figured out the injury issues that have plagued him over the past few years, resulting in victory in Orlando last week and Jeddah in October.
The distance between his best and worse is as far as any player in the world, but we know he’s an excellent fit for Augusta National after finishing co-runner-up in 2019.
If Brooks makes the cut, we’re backing him to go deep.
Suggested Bet: B. Koepka to win @ $36 & Top 10 @ $3.90
