The Magic Millions Carnival kicks off this Saturday. With a big week expected on and off the track, there is no better place to be than the Gold Coast. The stellar nine-race card is the perfect preview to next week’s Magic Millions features.
Gold Coast Race 6
#9 Olentia
Olentia looks a good thing on a tricky program. This is her biggest test to date; however, she has been ultra-impressive in her two career starts. From barrier 3, I expect Jim Byrne to take control of the race on this exciting filly. With a clear run-in transit and her massive turn of foot, I expect her to win again.
Kir Royale looks the obvious danger after chasing home a smart one last start. She is undefeated third-up from a spell, and she can bounce back here. She is well suited to racing against fillies and mares.
Boom filly Latakia was disappointing last start. She was brilliant on debut before struggling over the 1400m at her latest. She will be thereabouts with the experienced Craig Williams aboard.

Gold Coast RACE 7
#10 Resonator
I am happy to be with Resonator, who was only narrowly beaten last start at Randwick. He was gallant in defeat and looked like the winner after giving a solid kick at the top of the straight. From barrier 4, James McDonald can find the front, and he may prove challenging to run down on the quick backup.
West Of Africa can run well after consistent preparation. He was brilliant first-up before being edged out at his latest outings. He is suited at the 1300m, and I expect him to make his presence felt when the whips are cracking.
Despite drawing barrier 13, Arentee will be thereabouts. He is in winning form, and he rarely runs a bad race.

Gold Coast Race 8
#12 Tyresa
Tyresa looks excellent each-way value in a wide-open event. She finally gets out to a preferable distance, barrier one will provide a soft trip, and she is ideally weighted at 51kg. She ran home well last start, and I expect a peak run on Saturday.
Thalassophile will start favourite despite drawing awkwardly in barrier 12. She was huge at Gosford’s last start, where she had a luckless passage but still nearly got the chocolates. She will be flying home late if she can get a spot in the running line.

Gold Coast Race 9
#9 Rock Amore
Rock Amore was an impressive last-start winner. He beat a decent field at Eagle Farm fresh, and there is no reason why he can’t win again! He strips fitter second-up, is suited at the distance, and has had good market support.
Lord Olympus can win here at the decent price. He is drawn ideally in barrier four and has peaked third-up in previous campaigns. He looks well-placed and well-weighted to run a bottler!
Wairere Falls will start favourite after a teasing fresh run at Doomben. He produced some impressive late sectionals and will be fitter for the run. His best form makes him the one to beat; he needs to reproduce it after becoming costly to follow.
