Saturday night greyhounds at The Meadows.
There is no place you would rather be for chasing and racing as the BetDeluxe team goes through the best bets on the 12-race program.
We begin our night with a bet in race one.
The Meadows race 1
#5 Ozzie Pack
He debuted in sensational style when leading all the way in an impressive 30.60 victory over The Meadows 525-metre circuit.
He started a $1.80 elect in that race, which clearly showed us his ability and talent is superior to maiden grade.
The time might not have been as quick as the current favourite Dr Falkor’s last start win, but he had the benefit of a handful of runs to get his fitness up prior to that winning effort.
Our selection would have benefitted from the run immensely and can easily blitz the time he recorded on debut 10 days ago.
He will only have to improve a length or two to be a huge winning hope here.
Suggested Bet: Ozzie Pack win at $3.4
The Meadows race 2
#3 ben charlie
We were yet to find out how strong Ben Charlie was over 525 metres, but two starts we got a glimpse into what he is capable of.
The Mark Morrissey-trained chaser pinged to the front at The Meadows over 525 metres and almost led all the way.
He was probably in need of the run over that distance given he had never actually stepped out into that realm of racing as a young dog.
He then stepped back to 450 metres at Shepparton where he was beaten by just over a length in second, but that run is perfect platform to help stay fit for this second attempt over 525 metres in three starts.
He is now every chance to run a much stronger race over this distance than he did back in March and looks a great bet.
Suggested Bet: Ben Charlie win at $5
Suggested Exotic: 3 & 4
the meadows race 6
#2 aston amigo
Hoping Aston Amigo can indeed be our amigo when he contests race six at The Meadows.
Vicki Wisener has him humming along at the moment with three wins and second to his name at this last four starts.
His last start was a runner-up finish at Sandown over 515 metres, which might just be a little bit too sharp for him now given he has stepped up to the longer 600-metre races.
The Sandown effort is a good base to use as a tick over for the legs coming into this event and the race looks to shape nicely for him.
He should be able to easily clear out from the inside box and hold the lead to the first bend, which is a big advantage.
His personal best time here is a jet-propelled 34.29 and we expect the market to really hone in on the data and ratings he has produced at this track.
Suggested Bet: Aston Amigo win at $3.90
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 5, 8
the meadows race 7
#1 nike apache
Nike Apache is such an enigma.
He has plenty of talent and a massive motor, but his tardy beginnings are becoming costly.
At the current price, however, he is definitely worth a peanut.
He has raced in some pretty strong heat events and G4/5 races over this last few starts and this is probably the easiest he has faced over the last two months.
He will now be hitting full fitness as well in what is his sixth run back from a spell.
There has been a sprinkling of early money for him in the markets, which suggests trainer David Geall might have him jumping cleanly.
If he jumps on terms and gets clear running room, he will very hard to beat.
Suggested Bet: Nike Apache win at $4.4
