The Adelaide Strikers will try to continue their shock run through the BBL 11 finals series as they attempt to knock off defending champions the Sydney Sixers at the SCG on Australia Day.
The Strikers managed to cause a huge boil over against the Sydney Thunder in their do-or-die clash on Saturday as they resolutely defended the 184 runs scored in the first innings.
Veteran seamer Peter Siddle combined brilliantly with Harry Conway to ensure the Strikers kept their winning momentum going as they held the Thunder to 178 runs and in doing so recorded a six-run triumph.
The Sixers, for all their good work throughout the season, bring in losing form to this clash after falling short against the Perth Scorchers for the third time.
The BBL 10 champions have failed every time they have played Perth this season and will need to find a second wind if they are to stop a Strikers team that has now won four games in a row.
Josh Phillipe is often the barometer for the Sixers at the top of the order and he is yet to really reach the heights of his batting achievements over the last two season.
The Sixers top order looked very shaky against the Scorchers.
That being said, Perth is the best team in the competition at the moment and the Strikers have no where near the class of the Scorchers.
However, the problem for the Sixers are the mental demons from their January 17 loss against Adelaide.
Fawad Ahmed and Siddle did all the damage with the ball, while Iain Cockbain slammed 71 unbeaten runs.
It was the start of the Strikers winning streak and will surely be looked back upon by the visitors with great confidence that they can get the job done in Sydney.
