Australian Open Tips & Previews, Monday 24th January

All the best bets from BetDeluxe on day eight of the Australian Open as we head into the second week of action at Melbourne Park.

Alex De Minaur is in action as the BetDeluxe goes through all the best bets ahead of day eight at the Australian Open.

Sit back, relax and enjoy another hot day on the courts of Melbourne Park.

Alex De Minaur vs. Jannik Sinner

The final Australian hope on the men’s side of the Australian Open draw fronts up on Rod Laver Arena when Alex De Minaur trades blows with young Italian prospect Jannik Sinner.

This will likely the hardest test to date for De Minaur at this tournament with Sinner sweeping through all before him on his way to what has so far been his best performance in Australia.

De Minaur will have the crowd behind him as he looks to progress through to the quarter finals after defeating Pablo Andujar in straight sets on Saturday.

Sinner, however, has had a meteoric rise through the ATP ranking through 2021 and early 2022.

The 20-year-old Italian ranks tenth in the world with his brute power and court coverage contributing to his $1.38 quote to win this match.

De Minaur has the spirit and endeavour to match it with Sinner for large parts, but the Italian just looks a class above as seen when the two went to head back in 2020 at the Sofia Open.

Sinner has elevated his game considerably since then and should find his way to the quarterfinals.

Jannik Sinner 3-0 at $2.65

taylor fritz vs. stefanos tsitsipas

Two young guns of the grand-slam scene battle it out on Rod Laver Arena when Stefanos Tsitsipas meets Taylor Fritz.

Both players have had their scares at the Australian Open so far with Tsitsipas needing four sets to overcome French journeyman Benoit Paire, while Fritz overcame an epic five-set thriller against Robert Bautista-Agut.

The fresher legs of Tsitsipas might prove the difference in this clash, especially in the hot and humid weather that will set in on Melbourne.

Regadrless, he is going to face stiff opposition in the form of Fritz who has catapulted this way to a career-high ATP ranking of 22.

Fritz’s win over Bautista-Agut ensured he made the second week of a grandslam for the first time in 21 attempts and highlighted his growing improvement against the world’s best.

We could be in for the long haul here.

Suggested Bet: Stefanos Tsitsipas 3-2 at $5

iga swiatek vs. sorana cirstea

Iga Swiatek will look to continue her dominant path on the way the women’s quarterfinals when she faces off against Romanian veteran Sorana Cirstea.

Swiatek has crushed everyone in her path without dropping a set through the first three rounds of the Australian Open.

The 20-year-old Polish star has matched her two previous best finishes at this tournament by making the fourth round and she looks poised to make it her best-ever performance down under.

But Cirstea will have something else to say after she toppled number-10 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in three sets.

Like Swiatek, Cirstea’s win has equalled her career-best finish at the Australian Open when she made the fourth round back in 2017.

In what shapes as the first time these two women will go head to head against each other in their careers, it is Swiatek who has been heavily favoured by the market as a $1.16 favourite.

Cirstea might the more experienced of the two, but Swiatek has oodles of talent that make her a menace on the women’s side of the draw.

The Pole’s success over the last couple of years has been down to her determination and her ability to find solutions quickly on the court.

Cirstea might pinch a set off Swiatek, but the Pole should be able to hold her nerve.

Suggested Bet: Iga Swiatek 2-1 at $3.90

kaia kanepi vs. aryna sabalenka

The explosive power of both Kaia Kanepi and Aryna Sabalenka will be on display come Monday night at Rod Laver Arena.

Sabalenka has really battled her way to the fourth round needing three sets in all of her encounters to date, which has her battle hardened for what is set to be a brutal clash.

Kanepi, meanwhile, has found a second wind in her career with the 36-year-old Estonian surpassing her previous best finish at the Australian Open to qualify for this fourth round match.

She might not be a crowd favourite in this game, having defeated Australian hope Maddison Inglis, but it really highlighted her ability to quash the crowd and focus on her game.

Both Kanepi and Sabalenka possess very strong games from the baseline.

Interestingly, Kanepi leads Sabalenka 1-0 in the head-to-head, having taken a three-set win over the Belarusian at last year’s Gippsland Trophy.

The market here has really sided with Sabalenka and we think that might be a bit of a mistake.

Value with Kanepi.

Suggested Bet: Kaia Kanepi head to head at $3.33
