Will England fight back with the return of some key veterans?

We wait in angst for the first ball to be delivered come Thursday afternoon.

Australia vs. England

head to head

Australia takes a 1-0 lead over England into the Second Ashes Test at Adelaide Oval this Thursday, but the headlines have been stolen by injuries and the return of a handful of key players.

Australian opening bowler Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out for the test with a side strain suffered in the crushing nine-wicket victory over England at the Gabba.

His absence will be deeply felt by the Australian bowling line-up which is so reliant on his brilliant line and length bowling over a sustained period of time.

The injury woes for Australia do not end there.

David Warner is also in some doubt with sore ribs and his omission would cause a serious headache for the Australian batting top order.

Usman Khawaja would be the likely replacement for Warner should he miss and looks good value to lead the Australian run scoring if he plays given the warm weather and hard pitch will suit the batters.

There will likely be a reliance on Marnus Labuschagne to steady the ship of Australia should the top order of Khawaja and Marcus Harris fail.

Regardless, the Australian batting order is going to face some serious pressure if England decides to welcome back veteran fast bowlers James Anderson and Stuart Broad.

Anderson and Broad might very well be in the twilight of their bowling tenures at test level, but make no mistake, they can wreak all sorts of havoc with the red ball.

Keep an eye out on the team selection prior to this contest.

Should Anderson come into the English team as predicted and should Warner miss, the value lies with the tourists.

Suggested Bets:
England head to head at $3.3 (If Anderson plays & Warner misses)
Top Australian batsman U. Khawaja at $6
Top Australian bowler N. Lyon at $4.50
Top England batsman J. Root at $2.65
Top England bowler J. Anderson at $3.1
