Australia vs. England

head to head

The build has been enormous, but now it is time to let the cricket do the talking as Brisbane gets set to the host the first test of The Ashes.

Australia has been in the headlines for all the wrong reason leading up to this match at The Gabba with Tim Paine being ousted as captain and from cricket altogether after a sexting scandal.

Paine has been replaced by wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey to fill the void with Patrick Cummins taking over as Australian captain.

England, meanwhile, will be without veteran pace bowler James Anderson who suffered a calf injury in the lead up.

Chris Woakes and Mark Wood will likely be starters for England and it leaves that final pace bowling option open for Stuart Board or Ollie Robinson.

Anderson’s absence may just very well open the door for the Australian batting order to pile on the runs.

David Warner and Marcus Harris will be looking to score quickly should the Aussies open the batting.

The leadership of Steve Smith will also be called upon as he sneaks under the radar approaching the first test.

From an England perspective, one would suspect captain Joe Root to be the barometer and he will have a chip on his shoulder after having captaincy brought into question by Ian Chappell this week.

Onto the predicted result, Australia has always had a strong record at the Gabba.

The Aussies have recorded 33 victories to England’s nine throughout Ashes history.

Expect the home nation to make amends for having its incredible 32-year long unbeaten run at the ground brought to an end by India last time it played at in a Test match here.

Suggested Bets:
Australia head to head at $1.85
Top Australian batsman M. Labuschagne at $3.6
Top Australian bowler J. Hazlewood at $3.50
Top England batsman J. Root at $2.75
Top England bowler M. Wood at $3.6
