The BMW Championship from Baltimore, Maryland in the USA has arrived.
Our team has a look at the best bets for the tournament.
Jon Rahm
Jon Rahm is your tournament favourite and it’s no wonder why.
The Spaniard has been in slashing form of late and currently sits on top of the PGA World Rankings.
He was marked an odds-on elect when facing up in the FedEx Cup Playoff, but a late blunder cost him an almost certain victory.
That should not detract punters here.
It’s been a whirlwind of a year of Rahm given the birth of his first child and then being told he has to quit the Memorial when holding a six-shot lead heading into the final round due to COVID.
The 26-year-old has finished in the top three of his last three major events and his brilliant all-round game is what will come to the fore here.
It’s a course built for power and distance. While that may not be Rambo’s specialty, compared to the likes of Dustin Johnson and Bryson De Chambeau, he makes up for it in prowess around the greens.
Suggested Bet: Jon Rahm win at $6.5
Bryson De Chambeau
The big hitting American provided a glimpse into what may lie ahead for him in the back end of 2021 after an improved performance last week.
His T-31 eight-under par finish at The National Trust and his eighth place finish at the FedEx Cup highlighted a good start to August.
There were signs that the former US Open champion was finally getting to grips with his driver last week.
This is the sort of track where his power could prove a big asset, but we always have to consider whether he is in the right frame of mind.
He is a flighty character that can prove a bit volatile, but his best is capable of winning this.
Suggested Bet: Bryson De Chambeau win at $15
Cameron Smith
Our Australian hope Cameron Smith deserves a bit of live with the form he is in.
He was an errant tee-shot away from taking out the The Northern Trust last week and nearly broke the magical 60 score for a round.
Alas, it was not to be, but he comes into this BMW Championship with a quote that should instil fear into his rivals; “I can beat anyone.”
He has continued to build a great platform to dip his lid to this year with a T-10 place finish at the Olympics, followed up by a T-5 at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational and then heartbreaking playoff loss last week.
His form around the fairways and greens has been sublime.
With a bit of poise on the tees, his game warrants serious consideration here.
Suggested Bet: Cameron Smith win at $17
