Harness Racing Tips

Harness Racing Tips & Previews, Saturday 31st July

The best bets for Saturday harness racing as we head into another jam-packed weekend of chasing and pacing.

We are back headquarters for Victorian harness racing on Saturday, while it’s off to Menangle as well for the best ahead of Saturday night pacing and racing.

Plenty of winning and each-way value to have a flutter on as we head into a big weekend.

Melton Race 3

#1 Diamond Party

Looks like this will be a charge to the top between Diamond Party and Enchanted Stride.

Going with Diamond Party who is racing in fine winning form and is the horse that will dictate what happens in this race from a speed point of view.

The four-year-old mare has the speed to hold out Enchanted Stride but may opt to kick up and make the favourite work for the front and take a sit in behind with cover.

Either way, DIamond Party holds the ace of the inside draw without having to do too much work to find a handy spot in the run.

Suggested Bet: Diamond Party win at $3

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 8

Melton Race 4

#4 Lightning jash

Lightning Jash is one of the more interesting runners on the program.

He brings over an unblemished record from Tasmania which sees him with two wins from two career starts.

The two-year-old gelding from the Kate Hargreaves stable races first-up here of 1720 metres and his most recent trial in preparation for this should have him cherry ripe.

The favourite, Interest Free, will be tough to beat, but he is having his fourth run in what is his first preparation and must contend with a 39-day break.

Want to be with the fresh legs of Lightning Jash who will likely take the sit and sprint over the top of them late.

Suggested Bet: Lightning Jash win at 2.7

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 4/ 3/ 1, 2

Melton race 6

#2 Bettor be the bomb

Sticking fat with Bettor Be The Bomb who loomed up ominously last week and, yet again, has absolutely no luck in the straight.

His curse of a preparation has seen him either not been fit enough to run up to his best or not have any luck at critical stages of his races.

Tonight just has to be his night from a low, soft draw and with not too much speed engaged in the race.

He just needs an ounce of luck to his way to be winning this race.

The form line behind Torrid Saint is one the strongest in the country at the moment and we are making him the best of the night.

Suggested Bet: Bettor Be The Bomb win at $2.90

Melton Race 7

#13 Brandlo Prince

It all went horribly wrong for Brandlo Prince when starting a $3.5 elect in a T62-85 rated race.

He was badly held up for a run over 2180 metres at Kilmore as he moved up stylishly and looked all over the winner.

But he feel into the lap of tiring horses and could only managed to finish third.

It was still a big effort considering all his momentum was halted.

Drawing the outside of the second row will probably pan out better than what it did last start as it will likely see him gain a clear passage into the straight.

Suggested Bet: Brandlo Prince each-way at $9 the win and $2.80 the place

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 2, 12, 13/ 2, 12, 13/ 2, 5, 12, 13,

Menangle Race 6

#6 Big Jack Hammer

The battle between two hammers!

It’s Drop The Hammer and Big Jack Hammer going it at again but it is the latter who looks the value in this race.

Drop The Hammer may have beaten home our selection last start, but there are two main factors that come to play here; the first is the starting price advantage from last start as well as the race shape.

Big Jack Hammer just found dropping back to the mile a bit too sharp for his liking and never really got into a comfortably rhythm.

The rise in distance to 2300 metres is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Suggested Bet: Big Jack Hammer win at $3.6
