The unknown become the known early last week when Game 1 of State of Origin was moved from the MCG to Townsville!
Is it advantage Queensland or do NSW still hold sway?
Our team has gone through the best bets for the most popular markets ahead of Game 1 on Wednesday night.
head to head
June 9th 8:10pm
From a crowd perspective it is advantage Queensland with Game 1 of the State of Origin between the Maroons and Blues shifting from the MCG to Townsville.
From a talent point of view it is definitely advantage New South Wales, but we have seen time and time again that the fight shown in the Maroons has simply outdone anything offered by the Blues.
Last year it was supposed to a bloodbath in favour of the Blues but the Maroons were incredible in the game three decider.
This NSW line up is arguably one of, if not, the most talented squads it has fielded for many a year.
Captain James Tedesco will start at fullback and he will be accompanied by winger Brian To’o and Josh Addo-Carr, while Latrell Mitchell and Tom ‘Turbo’ Trbojevic occupy the centre.
Penrith captain Nathan Clearly will do battle at half-back against Maroons captain Daly Cherry-Evans who aims to make it a back-to-back origin triumph.
Queensland, too, have its fair share of league talent to match the Blues.
Xavier Coates and Valentine Holmes will tippy toe the wings for the Maroons in attempt to get behind the Blues’ defence.
When most of the rugby fraternity had written off Queensland last year it came back to it on the backside.
Never under estimate the heart of the Maroons but this will be super close.
Suggested Bet: Queensland Maroons +4.5 at $1.87
Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Queensland Maroons +4.5
Leg 2: J. Addo-Carr score try anytime
Leg 3: Total points over 42.5
Combined odds = $6.5
first try scorer
James Tedesco/Xavier Coates
James Tedesco made a knack of scoring the first try in games this season.
He nailed home the first try in the opening two games of the season and given the sour injury blow he copped in the 2020 State of Origin, he will be chomping at the bit to get his hands on the ball early.
The captain and spiritual leader of this NSW team is destined to stamp his authority on the contest early in this game and he represents great value at double figures.
Xavier Coates seems to the main threat for Queensland coming off the wing.
His form for Brisbane this year has given the team a pulse after a disastrous 2020 campaign.
Coates has crossed the try-line eight times this season and expect that trend to continue heading into game one.
Suggested Bets:
James Tedesco first try scorer at $10.50
Xavier Coates first try scorer at $9.5
total points scored
under 46.5
All three origin games in 2020 struggled to get over the current 42.5 total points market.
Game one was a 32-point affair, game two just scrapped over with 44 points being scored, while game three garnered 34 points.
There is one man who did not contest the state of origin series last season who will make a big difference to that score lines this year; Tom Trbojevic.
The man they dub ‘Turbo Tom’ will be a serious offensive threat and his addition alone should see the scores push beyond 40 points.
Suggested Bet: Total points scored over 42.5 points at $1.94
