head to head
April 25th 4:05pm
Anzac Day rivals do battle when the Sydney Roosters clash with the St George Illawarra Dragons at the SCG on Sunday evening.
The fifth-placed home team are on the hunt for a rebound victory after being humbled 20-4 by a superior Melbourne Storm outfit in Round 6, while the sixth-placed Dragons are aiming to redeem a 20-14 loss against the New Zealand Warriors last week.
The Roosters have ben walloped by injuries this season but continue to fight doggedly to remain in the top eight.
An ACL injury to Luke Keary has been a massive blow for the Roosters as has the forced retirement of Jake Friend coupled with the prolonged omission of Boyd Cordner.
In positive news, Sam Verrills will make his comeback from a knee injury and that is certain to give the Roosters a timely morale boost.
The 2019 premiers have shown plenty of heart this season and have won their last five games against the Dragons which sees them start a clear favourite in this game.
Suggested Bet: Sydney Roosters -6.5 at $1.90
first try scorer
James Tedesco/Zac Lomax
James Tedesco is the first try scoring machine for the Sydney Roosters.
The Roosters fullback has been the only player to be the first try scorer in the match for his team and has done so on two occasions through six rounds this season.
He will be the go-to man again here.
For St George, it has managed to score the first try in three out of its opening six games to start the year with Cody Ramsey being the most recent player after his first try in the 14-20 loss against New Zealand last week.
Jack Bird and Zac Lomax have been the other two players to hit the scoreboard for the first try this season.
As such, we will stick with the players who have showed their ability to score the first try.
The exposed form is what we will side with.
Suggested Bets:
James Tedesco first try scorer at $9.5
Zac Lomax first try scorer at $15
total points scored
over 41.5
In 2020, both games between the Roosters and Dragons petered on the edge of the current 41.5 total points scored quote currently available.
It was a total of 40 points and 38 points scored over the fixtures last season.
The Roosters will clearly put an emphasis on offence this week given they only scored one unconverted try against the Melbourne Storm in Round 6.
The last 11 fixtures the Dragons have played against the Roosters have gone over the point scored set margin at kick off eight times.
So history would err on the side of taking the overs and given the weather in Sydney is expected to be cool and dry, the overs is what we will side with.
Expecting a clean, fast flowing contest between two hungry sides eager to please their fans.
Suggested Bet: Total points scored over 41.5 points at $1.90
