We’re back at The Meadows and Wentworth Park for Saturday night greyhound racing.
The greyhound team has sliced its way through the cards and honed in on the best bets ahead of a cracking night of chasing.
Green light, bunny rolls, away we go!
The Meadows Race 2
#4 tybalt bale
Has not won a race since January 30 this year but he should get his best chance to make up his current run of outs.
His last start was a week ago at this course and distance where he started the shortest in one of the main form references for this race and had no luck whatsoever.
The Andrea Dailly-trained dog jumped from box four was hampered at the start, forced wide on the track, got checked midway through the race and then nearly got flattened as they corner into the home straight.
Invctius Ethan, the current favourite in the race, will be hard to run down, but Tybalt Bale has some runs on the board at this distance range whereas Invictus Ethan does not.
Suggested Bet: Tybalt Bale each-way at $6 and $1.8 the place
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 2, 4/ 2, 3, 4/ 2, 3, 4, 7
The meadows race 3
#6 Namida
Namida has the early burn in his armoury to cross this field and lead them a merry dance in Race 3 at The Meadows.
Loved his run in higher grade last start when pinging the lids from box six – which he draws again on Saturday night – jumping to the front but only to be gunned by a smart one called Got The Torque.
His main danger, Angel Glow, is drawn next door to him in box seven, but Namida seems to have a little bit more early toe into the race.
Raymond Henness only needs to get Namida to run up to her last start to be winning this and we get a nice price to find out.
Can be with him on each-way basis.
Suggested Bet: Namida each-way at $5 the win and $1.7 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 6, 7/ 1, 6, 7/ 1, 6, 7,
The Meadows Race 5
#4 run and carry
Run and carry the hopes of our best bet… that’s exactly what Run and Carry will be doing on Saturday night if his last start two starts are anything to by.
The Matthew Lanigan-trained dog has returned to his stunning best with two jet-propelled victories with the most recent being a blistering 25.12 win in a heat of the Shepparton to The Meadows.
Now, he comes into his grand final have drawn box four which has proved no issues for him in the past with three wins from three starts when donning the blue rug.
He boasts incredible acceleration for a dog in this class and should be able to make a mess of them again here.
Keep an eye on the clock if gets an easy lead in this one.
Suggested Bet: Run and Carry win at $1.60
The Meadows race 7
#1 California Gold
Goodness gracious me, California Gold should have made it his eight career win last start but found more trouble than Austin Powers on a spaceship with Mini Me.
Just needs to jump cleanly from box one and stay out of trouble early to be winning this race.
His win at Sandown three starts ago when running 34.02 after leading all the way and bolting in is more than enough to be winning this race.
The main danger in the race seems to be Zipping Rambo but he can sometimes stink it up at the start. If he’s switched on he’ll be super hard to run down but the price does not justify his last two runs.
Suggested Bet: California Gold win at $3
Suggested Exotic: – Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 4
Wentworth Park race 4
#1 ice cream story
Ice Cream Story had been racing in great form up until his last two starts where he drew out wide on the course which is not really his go.
If we look at his last two starts from inside boxes, he has won and run second in slick time as well.
His record from box one reads one start for one win and if he can run up to the 29.55 victory over this course and distance as he did on February 6 then he is an almighty shout in this race.
Wow, who is the $1.80 favourite, is clearly the one to hold out, but box six can might get a little awkward for him with the pace drawn to his inside and as such we will opt with Ice Cream Story.
Suggested Bet: Ice Cream Story each-way at $5 the win and $1.55 the place
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 6
wentworth park race 6
#3 mr. fix it
The Victorian form of Mr. Fix It and Tommy Shelby dominate the market here and rightfully so with both dogs running identical 29.86 wins over The Meadows 525 metres.
The price differential between the two in this race seems a bit extreme with Mr. Fix It coming up double the odds of Tommy Shelby.
Tommy Shelby was incredible when running down Fernando Bluey last start but was very lucky to do so after not jumping as quickly as he usually does.
Mr. Fix It is a no nonsense jump and run greyhound who done nothing but spear his way to the front at this last start and run the opposition in the ground by leading all the way.
His 29.75 win two starts at The Meadows was a sight to behold and if he can replicate that form here, Tommy Shelby is going to have a very hard time trying to run him down.
Suggested Bet: Mr. Fix It win at $4
Suggested Exotic: Exacta – 3 & 7
