Saturday night racing returns to the Meadows and Wentworth Park this weekend.
With 12 races to be run and won at the Meadows alongside 10 races at Wentworth Park, we’ve filtered through each race and landed on the best value for the respective programs.
Come and follow our best bets as we head into another weekend of chasing in Australia.
The Meadows Race 1
#2 Angel Glow
Angel Glow gets the perfect race shape for a dog of her racing pattern.
The favourite, Orlando, who has drawn box one, will kick up from the rails and hold the lead.
That should allow Angel Glow to follow him into the race with a clear passage and she can use her serious mid-race burn to launch over the top of the favourite.
She is a serious greyhound and a star prospect.
Only query here is this is her first attempt on The Meadows track but the $4 is too hard to resist.
Suggested Bet: Angel Glow win at $4
Suggested Exotic: Quinella – 1 & 2
the meadows race 2
#1 Shinjuku
Shinjuku pinged the lids sharply to lead them up last start at The Meadows 525 metre circuit only to be run down right on the line by Lots of Chatter.
It was his first run over that distance since late January having been entered in races over shorter trips.
That run over 525 meters should bring him on beautifully here from a fitness point of view and he is drawn to get the lead again.
There does not look to be a heap of early speed in the race either which should see him hold the rails quite easily and look the winner for a very long way.
We will be holding our breath in the last bit of race, as the chasers try to hunt him down, but he should have enough of a break on them in the early and middle stages of the race to hold on.
Suggested Bet: Shinjuku win at $2.8
Suggested Exotic: 1, 5/ 1, 5/ 1, 2, 5
The Meadows race 4
#6 hill top jack
Hill Top Jack has been racing in fine fettle and strikes another winnable race here.
The David Geall-trained chaser has put together a decent resume in his nine-race career having registered four wins to date.
His most recent win came three starts ago where he ran a 29.91 over The Meadows 525 metres which is an almost identical time to that of the $2.2 favourite Fernando Mick.
Last start he was drawn in the squeeze box and nothing really went his way but on Saturday, from box six, he can muster up with a clear run and put on the favourite.
If he repeats the performance from three starts ago he will be winning here.
Happy to be with him at the price.
Suggested Bet: Hill Top Jack win at $4.2
Suggested Exotic: Quinella – 4 & 6
The meadows race 5
#5 radek bale
Radek Bale had his first ever crack at the 600 metre starting point at The Meadows and was far from disgraced when running second behind Star Blazer.
That run will bring him on beautifully for this race over the same course and distance, and he draws box five which has brought him success in the past.
His record reads three starts for two wins in the yellow rug and his trainer Andrea Dailly is an absolute freak when it comes to winning these ‘Final’ races.
The favourite for the race is drawn to his immediate outside and should give him a backside to follow into the race.
Expecting him to run a big one here and we can back him each-way.
Cannot see him missing a place based on his last start effort.
Suggested Bet: Radek Bale each-way at $6.5 the win and $1.90 the place
Suggested Exotic: – Boxed Trifecta – 1/ 5/ 6
Wentworth Park race 6
#1 Avalanche
Forget he ever went around last start when he drew in box seven and just had no luck being unable to cross and lead.
If we look back to his first run back from a break on February 26, he took off like a jet-propelled greyhound and never looked back to win by a space.
He ran a very slick time of 30.07 in front of the Group 1 winning chaser Wow.
He drew box one that occasion and he does so again here.
Best bet of the night at Wentworth Park.
Suggested Bet: Avalanche win at $3.4
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta 1/ 7, 8/ 6, 7, 8
