Melbourne Cup Heats Tips & Previews, Friday 19th February

The greyhound team has gone to work and come up with more great value bets for Saturday night racing with the Melbourne Cup Heats filling up The Meadows program and the best of Wentworth Park

The BetDeluxe greyhound preview returns for another Saturday night of chasing after nailing Party Lights and Invictux Jaxson as two of the best bets on Thursday night.

The greyhound team has gone to work and come up with more great value bets for Saturday night racing with the Melbourne Cup Heats filling up The Meadows program.

We’ve also ventured off to Wentworth Park with a smart bush chaser coming to town.

Time to chase the bunny!

The Meadows race 1 (725m)

#8 cawbourne Footrot

Cawbourne Footrot was a fast finisher last start when running second to Fernando Cazz in the Rookie Rebel Group 1 over 600m at The Meadows last week.

He has a number of factors in his favour tonight that have him standing out in this race like a sore thumb.

The step up in distance to 725m is ideal for him given his big tank of stamina allowing him to have five starts at this distance for three wins.

The Jodie Lord-trained dog draws one of his favoured boxes in box eight.

With six starts in the pink rug rendering four wins and a minor placing, he will relish being in clear and out wide early so he can build up his revs and launch his mid-race and finishing burst.

Fantastic value at $5

Suggested Bet: Cawbourne Footrot to win at $5

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta 8/ 5/ 4

The Meadows Race 2 (725m)

#6 stanley road

Stanley Road was absolutely enormous when being beaten by one of the best staying dogs in the land last start in Houdini Boy.

He rocketed home along the rails only to go down by a head and this time he is poised to go one better.

Having drawn box six, as he did last start, he can let the leaders go mad up front and be in clear air.

With the seven next door him a much slower beginner and the dog drawn box eight a quick beginner from the lids, Stanley Road should be a nice cart into the race and launch his assault late.

Suggested Bet: Stanley Road win at $2

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 6/ 2/ 8

The Meadows Race 7 (525M)

#1 JIMM ZARR DASHIAN

One of the best named greyhounds in the business and he has the talent to match!

He brings a completely different form line into this race having bolted in a Geelong Grade 4/5 over 460m by just over three-lengths in a sharp 25.75.

With speed drawn outside of him including gun Group 1 performed West Australian greyhound Tommy Shelby, he might need a bit of luck from the inside box but if he can get the breaks he’s the one they will have to beat.

Suggested Bet: Jimm Zarr Dashian win at $4.8

Suggested Exotic : Quinella 1 & 5

THE MEADOWS RACE 8 - (525M)

#7 SHIMA SHINE

The trip back from Queensland might just have jaded him when running fifth in the Group 1 at The Meadows last week behind Wow.

He has got a blistering turn of foot when the lids fly open and that return run to Melbourne last Saturday and coming back home to his kennel during the week would have done him the world of good.

Fernando Bluey is the new dog on the scene and is absolutely airborne at the moment having won 9 of his last eleven races but the experience of Shima Shine should… dare we say it, shine through on Saturday night.

Suggested Bet: Shima Shine win at $2.4

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 5/ 7

THE MEADOWS RACE 10 (525M)

#5 CHRISTO BALE

Christo Bale from the Mark Delbridge kennell has had a nice little freshen up since his last start.

The drop back in distance from 650m to 525m will be no issue for him given he has good early pace to show even at these shorter trips.

He enjoys racing at this track and distance as well with a tally of seven wins and six minor placings from 18 starts at The Meadows 525m.

If he gets a clear run from the middle box he is going to be very hard to run down.

Suggested Bet: Christo Bale win at $4

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta 1, 5/ 1, 3, 5/ 1, 3, 5, 8

WENTWORTH PARK RACE 7 (520M)

#7 SWEET HONEY JESS

Sweet Honey Jess is a smart bush sprinter who hails from the Neil Staines kennels.

Her only run at this course and distance was an unlucky third when she drew box four, started sluggishly and battled on to run third.

She was clearly looking for the outside on that night at Wentworth Park three weeks ago and now she is drawn box seven which will suit her running style perfectly.

Her last two starts at Temora were both from box seven and yielded two hard fought victories.

The dogs drawn either side of her are not lightning beginners either which will allow her to get to the outside much earlier in the race.

Suggested Bet: Sweet Honey Jess win at $3

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 7/ 1, 8/ 1, 3, 8
