The Meadows Greyhound Tips and Previews, Saturday 13th February

BetDeluxe's own Wizard of Odds breaks down all the best tips and odds from a huge day of Group 1 racing at The Meadows

It’s a big card of greyhound racing from The Meadows on Saturday night as we get set for another weekend of Group 1 chasing and racing.

The preview and best bets have landed and our man has found plenty of value including a dog that could be ‘unbeatable.’

The Meadows race 3 - australian cup prelim 1 (525m)

#1 super zoom jake

Super Zoom Jake has been racing well without winning in recent time but he draws box one where he can be prominent throughout the race here.

He enjoys racing at The Meadows too with eight starts at this venue registering three wins and three placings.

He ran a solid third behind the freak greyhound and multiple Group 1 winner Shima Shine two starts ago and that form is good enough to win this.

The only real threat in the race seems to come from box seven in the form of Lala Kiwi. She is a lightly raced type and if she gets a clear passage through she can run down the favourite.

Suggested Bet: Super Zoom Jake win at $2.4

Suggested Exotic: 1, 7/ 1, 7/ 1, 2, 4, 6

The Meadows Race 4 - AUSTRALIAN CUP PRELIM 2 (525M)

#1 UTAH EXPRESS

Utah Express is racing in supreme form at the moment.

He ran a slick 29.87 at this course and distance last start, jumping well from box one and being far too good for his rivals.

A similar set up ensues on Saturday night where he has drawn the cherry again and he can muster up from the inside and hold his spot on the rails.

He is still a lightly-raced dog as well so he’ll have plenty of zest in his legs to hold out his opposition here.

Suggested Bet: Utah Express win at $2.4

The Meadows Race 5 - AUSTRALIAN CUP PRELIM 3 (525M)

#1 GYPSY ZELDA

There does not look to be a heap of blistering early speed in this race and that means it should set up well for the Andrea Dailley-trained Gypsy Zelda.

She boasts a sharp 29.93 time around this course and distance.

Had no luck whatsoever last start when she was crossed and never got a fair crack at winning.

From box one, given the opposition, she should be able to muster up into stride, hold the rails and prove too good for this lot.

Suggested Bet: Gypsy Zelda win at $3.5

THE MEADOWS RACE 6 - ZOOM TOP 2021 (725M)

#7 feel the beat

He is a special chaser from the Kelvyn Grennough kennels.

A winner of 13 races from 25 starts, he’s drawn box three and should be afforded a beautiful cart into the race on the back of Sir Truculent here.

His mid-race and finishing burst over these longer distances is a sight to behold.

He was unlucky last start at Sandown when dropping down in distance to 595m.

He drew box four on that occasion, copped a bit of squeeze from the dogs next door to him and then rattled home down the outside to finish fourth.

The thing to note from that run is how close he got to the winner 20-30 metres after the finish line.

The step up in distance to 725m is absolutely ideal for a dog of his racing calibre.

If he gets a clean, uninterrupted passage through he is nearly unbeatable here.

Suggested Bet: Houdini Boy win at $2.2

THE MEADOWS RACE 7 - ROOKIE REBEL 2 (600M)

#2 MEPUNGA ISLA

Mepunga Isla has an unblemished record at this course and distance.

She is two wins from two starts and draws a perfect box here to make it a hat-trick.

Her last start at Angle Park she had nothing go her way from box six and tonight she’s drawn box two.

There isn’t much early speed inside of her either with the emergency runner Cawbourne Footrot gaining a start and he usually takes a few strides to get into top gear.

The clear danger in the race is the favourite Fernando Cazz who has won four of his last five starts.

Suggested Bet: Mepunga Isla each way at $5.5

THE MEADOWS RACE 8 - TEMLEE 2021

#5 WOW

Feel absolutely sick going against Shima Shine here given his incredible nine wins from 11 starts when drawing box eight.

However, Wow has been scorching the track up in NSW and comes down here with an incredible eight race winning streak.

His last two starts were simply outstanding.

A  breath-taking 29.41 over 520m at Wentworth Park on January 16 was followed up by a 29.49 on January 23.

If he replicates that form here he’s going to be in the finish. Only concern is he might get cramped for room from box five given the speed of Shima Shine from the wide box.

Happy to take the punt at the price.

Suggested Bet: Wow each way at $5.5
