About the Race
First run in 1987, the Magic Millions 2YO Classic was created to complement the renowned Magic Millions Yearling Sales. It’s open only to horses sold or passed-in at Magic Millions auctions, giving the race a unique prestige and strong industry significance.
Held under set weights over 1200 m, the sprint has grown into one of the richest juvenile races in the country. It traditionally launches the two-year-old season and has seen future champions such as Capitalist, Phelan Ready, Dance Hero, and Lovely Jubly double as Golden Slipper winners.
When is the Next Magic Millions 2YO Classic?
The 2026 race is confirmed for Saturday, 17 January 2026, at the Gold Coast Racecourse during the Magic Millions Carnival, a major highlight of the summer racing calendar.
