It has been an overload of greyhound racing from The Meadows this week and we return to the venue for Saturday night chasing.
We have hunted down the best bets from the 12-race program!
The meadows race 3
#4 Weblec Blazer
Weblec Blazer smoked up this track last start with a devastating 13-length victory over 525 metres.
He ran a 29.71 to notch up his third career victory in what was a display of sheer speed and brute power.
He faces stiff opposition in the form of Mepunga Reject who will jostle him for early ascendancy but it’s hard to be against a dog that has been here and done it before.
Box four should be of no concern given the electric speed he showed last week and if he runs a similar time then he is going to be nigh on impossible to run down.
Suggested Bet: Weblec Blazer win at $4.2
Suggested Exotic: Exacta 1 & 4
The Meadows Race 4
#3 Byron Bale
Byron Bale represents the best value out of the three dogs who top the market in this race.
His dangers are drawn to his immediate inside in the form of Spring Cobra and Special Talent.
All three dogs share similar levels of talent and have all run similar times at this track and distance.
Siding with Byron Bale given the price differential between he and his two main rivals.
Thought he would come up shorter in the market especially given his record from box three and his last star effort against the smart Aston Gwen.
Suggested Bet: Byron Bale win at $4.6
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 3
The Meadows Race 5
#4 Madalia Champ
Steering clear of the two favourites Aston Lavinia and Lektra Yoyo to side with Madalia Champ.
He did not have much luck last start at Sale over 440 metres but a rise in distance to 525 metres at The Meadows might just see him settle much closer to the lead.
He has a near bomb proof record at the track with three starts equating to two wins and a minor placing.
His last start at the track was a barnstorming come-from-behind victory in 30.12.
A repeat of that effort would see him super competitive in this race.
Suggested Bet: Madalia Champ each-way at $6 the win and $1.95 the place
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 4/ 1, 4/ 3
The Meadows Race 9
#3 Lala Ivory
Lala Ivory struck all sorts of trouble at Ballarat last start.
She was about to run to the lead in a Grade 5 450-metre event but got severely hampered and ended up falling in the run.
The Andrea Dailly-trained bitch started a heavily backed $2.4 favourite on that occasion which has to be taken into consideration.
The fact she is also backing up immediately after the fall is a clear sign she has recovered well and is in good physical condition to run up to her best.
She boasts a very sharp personal best time at this track and distance and anything akin to that will see her winning this.
Suggested Bet: Lala Ivory win $2.7
The Meadows Race 11
#3 Mirror Illusion
Sprung the lids like a jet at Warragul last start and never looked back to hold on and win by just under a length in a lead-all-the-way victory.
She notched up her win over 460 metres in a time of 25.74 and races on the four-day back-up here.
Love the fact she is beginning to understand what good race dogs do; jump fast and take luck out of the equation.
She has missed the start on a few occasions but we can back her with confidence in this race given how professional she was on Tuesday.
A 30.22 personal best at the track and distance she faces in this race is more than good enough to win this and as such we have marked as the top pick.
Suggested Bet: Mirror Illusion win at $4.4
