Flemington Tips and Previews, Saturday 19th June

The Wizard of Odds has gone through the nine-race card from Flemington this Saturday.

The Wizard of Odds is off to Flemington to preview the best bets for Melbourne metropolitan racing on Saturday.

We start early in race and then attempt to get an odds-on favourite defeated in Race 5.

So sit back, relax and let The Wizard of Odds do his work.

Flemington Race 1

#8 Secret Glamour

The Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace might have unearthed a smart filly in the form of Secret Glamour.

She won in impressive style on debut at Cranbourne over 1200 metres in a time of 1:14:11 on a soft track.

After jumping cleanly she was restrained by Jye McNeil and came under him beautifully to settle third from last in the run.

When McNeil asked the two-year-old filly for the supreme effort she whipped around the field and put them to bed easily.

She has drawn barrier five and will enjoy a lovely run approximately two to three lengths off the leaders with cover.

The increase in trip to 1420 metres looks as though it will suit her perfectly.

Suggested Bet: Secret Glamour win at $3.5

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 8 & 9

Flemington Race 2

#6 Master Chum

Master Chum finished his race off with plenty of intent last start in a performance that says he is ready to win.

He settled just worse than midfield in a BM-84 event over 2000 metre at Flemington and hit the line hard to finish third.

Gun jockey Damian Lane now takes the ride and that is likely to improve the two to four lengths he needs to be right in the finish.

Barrier four should give him one of the easiest runs of all time and he will have to do very little work from the gate to find a nice position in the run.

Fourth-up now, should be hitting peak fitness and ready to run a career best.

Suggested Bet: Master Chum win at $4.4

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta 6/ 2, 8, 10 ,12/ 2, 8, 10 ,12

Flemington Race 5

#8 Degraves

We tipped Degraves last week at Sandown but he was scratched and now pops in a similar race.

He faces stiff opposition with Kurabui the undefeated galloper in the field and looking like a mare who will easily make the progression to city grade.

But Degraves has the runs on the board with some solid form over in the UK and gets into this race only having to carry 52.5 kilos.

Looks as though he will map a lot better than what Kurabui will and Robert Hickmott usually has these type of horses screwed down for a first-up kill.

Given the connections, we can back him with confidence on an each-way basis.

Suggested Bet: Degraves each-way at $7 the win and $2.25

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta 8 & 9

Flemington Race 6

#12 Unique Artist

The blinkers did the trick last start for Unique Artist as she bolted in with her maiden victory at Pakenham.

After what looked to be a below par effort first-up from a spell, Phillip Stokes gave his three-year-old filly a freshen up and applied the blinkers with a rise in distance to 1600 metres.

It was a masterstroke from Stokes and now comes the real test to see if she can measure up to Saturday grade.

She looks well versed enough to do so given she draws barrier one and can settle handy to the leaders.

The rise to 2000 metres looks ideal given the way she attacked the line last start and her breeding suggests anything at this distance range and beyond will be her type of racing.

Suggested bet: Unique Artist each-way at $13 the win and $4 the place.

Flemington Race 7

#1 Curran

God bless this horse.

He has been fruitful to us ever since we tipped him at Caulfield back on April 24.

His win up the straight a fortnight ago off a month break proved how well he is going after chasing down a hot speed to win with plenty in the tank.

Lyn Tolson and Leonie Proctor have done a sensational job with this horse given he had breathing and throat issues as a yearling.

He is a such a consistent race horse and gets another great set up to run right up to his best again.

Back up to 1200 metres will see him run to his best and he can blend into the race nicely from barrier 11.

Suggested bet: Curran win at $4.4
