Round 10 AFL Game of the Week Tips & Previews, Fremantle vs. Sydney

The best bets are in for Saturday night football between Fremantle and Sydney.

It’s a Saturday night thriller under the flashing lights of Optus Stadium when Fremantle welcome the Sydney Swans to Perth.

Best bets for the head to head, first goal-scorer and total points markets have been selected to fill up those pockets with cash.

HEad to HEAD

May 22nd 7:40pm

The Sydney Swans make the trek over to Perth when it faces the Fremantle Dockers.

Both the Swans and Dockers boast impressive young midfielders and forwards that will make this a fascinating contest.

For the Swans, it’s the likes of Callum Mills, Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner and James Rowbottom who will go toe to toe with the Dockers’ Adam Cerra, Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw.

The visitors have clearly shown the better form this year but Fremantle get the advantage of playing on its home deck.

Given the last two fixtures between the two teams have been at this venue and have resulted in Fremantle victories, there is a strong case to be made for the Dockers.

 Prediction: Fremantle by 16 points

Suggested Bets:
Fremantle -1.5 at $1.91

FIRST GOAL SCORER

Rory Lobb & Hayden McLean

Tom McCartin was the first goal scorer of the game when these two teams met back in Round 13 last season.

He’s almost no chance of repeating those feats this time round given his role deep in defence this year.

As such, the player who catches the eye for the Swans is big Hayden McLean.

Fremantle struggled to defend the tall timber of Harrison Jones early in their game against the Bombers last week and McLean represents a challenge for the Dockers backline.

The door may open up for a tall down the Dockers’ end as well.

Matthew Taberner was in great goal-kicking form against the Bombers but it was Rory Lobb managed to kick the first major for the Dockers on the day.

The Swans defence is not exactly stacked with a lot of height either.

Suggested Bet:
Rory Lobb first goal at $14
Hayden McLean first goal at $12

total points scored

Over 137.5

The market seems to have overplayed the scoring history between the two teams in recent fixtures.

In shortened quarters, the Swans and Dockers conjured up a mere 69-point scoring total in the Round 13 game last season.

With longer quarters and the Swans implementing a much more offensive game-style than the one it used last year, expect this game to go over the point total set by the market.

Suggested Bet: Total points scored over 137.5 at $1.90
