Real Madrid vs. Liverpool

April 7th 5:00am

Two of the most successful teams in European Champions League history meet when Real Madrid do battle against  Liverpool at Estadio Alfredo di Stefano.

This is the first time the teams have met in the Champions League since that famous 2018 final when Real Madrid took home the trophy with a 3-1 win.

It’s been a battle for Liverpool this year having to deal with a number of key injuries.

Jurgen Klopp’s men find themselves sitting seventh on the Premier League table and 25 points adrift from league leaders Manchester City.

With the title race all but done in England, Liverpool need a huge Champions League run to ensure it qualifies for Europe next season.

Klopp has managed to win his last five matches at the quarter-finals stage of the Champions League but it does not come any tougher than the 13-time Champions League winner Real Madrid.

Sitting third in La Liga in a three-way battle for the league trophy with cross-town rival Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, Real Madrid have managed three victories in a row.

The Champions League form Real Madrid find itself in looks to have a bit more depth to it than that of Liverpool.

Atalanta were the huge surprise packet of the competition last season and made a fist of it again in this Champions League campaign but the class of Madrid shone through in the Round of 16.

Madrid went on to win the tie against Atalanta 4-1 on aggregate, while Liverpool easily accounted for RB Leipzig with a 4-0 trouncing of the Bundesliga outfit over the two legs.

Sergio Ramos is expected to miss the first leg with a calf injury sustained while on international duty for Spain.

It means the much awaited Mohammed Salah versus Ramos show will not go ahead until at least the second tie.

Liverpool will be keen to revenge on Madrid after the Champions League heartbreak of 2018 when Salah sustained a dislocated shoulder after a rogue challenge from Ramos.

It’s too hard to sway either way in this contest.

World class talent mixed with world class managers on either side.

Prediction: Real Madrid 1 Liverpool 1

Suggested Bet: Draw at $3.4

Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Both teams to score
Leg 2: M. Salah to score anytime
Leg 3: Total goals scored under 2.5
Combined odds = $12

Manchester City vs. Borussia Dortmund

April 7th 5:00am

Manchester City host Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad with both teams vying for their maiden Champions League win.

The Citizens have been relentless this year having all but sewn up the Premier League title with a near unassailable lead, and can now focus its full attention to the clash against Dortmund.

Norwegian teen sensation Erling Haaland will attempt to spoil the moment for City.

His goalscoring feats this season are unheard of for a 20-year-old.

Haaland leads the goal chart in the Champions League this season having buried 10 strikes into the back of the net and his Bundesliga record reads 21 goals from 21 appearances.

The City centre back pairing of Ruben Dias and John Stones will need to be on its toes to quell the dangerous Haaland.

The same can be said for the Dortmund back half who will have to deal with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez.

The midfield battle in this game will also go a long way to determining the outcome of this tie.

Former Dortmund playmaker Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne will combine in the heart of midfield to quell the influence and impose their own presence on a Dortmund midfield containing Jude Bellingham, Mahmoud Dahoud and Thomas Delaney.

Pep Guardiola has not managed to go past the quarter-final stage with City in the last three seasons.

The Citizens have also never defeated Dortmund in a Champions League outing.

A 1-1 draw at the Etihad and a 1-0 victory to Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park in the group stages of the 2012-13 competition see the visitors take the advantage at the head to head between the two teams, but this is a different City line-up.

A fit and healthy squad at home should mean City take the lead in the quarter-final tie.

Prediction: Manchester City 3 Borussia Dortmund 1

Suggested Bet: Manchester City to Score in Both Halves $1.80

Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Manchester City head to head

Leg 2: Both teams to score
Leg 3: R. Sterling to score anytime
Combined odds = $3.8
