Doomben Race 7

#2 Middle Earth

Middle Earth is always thereabouts. The Roaring Lion gelding doesn’t trouble the scorers too often, however; the form around him is elite. His performance in the Melbourne Cup was sensational, and I suspect he is ready to explode third-up from a spell. His record at the trip speaks volumes, and his opening quote has been more than nibbled at. Acid test!

Sea King can run a race at a decent price! Both runs this campaign have looked ominous, and I suspect he is ready to explode third-up from a spell on Saturday. The key appointment of Zac Purton is significant, and he has been screaming out for the 2000m all preparation. Dismiss at your own peril.

Suggested Bet: Middle Earth @ $6.00

Doomben Race 8

#1 Jimmysstar

Jimmysstar is ready to make a statement. All runs this preparation have been good without scoring, and the big boy finds his ideal conditions on Saturday. His best performance here would prove too strong for his key rivals, and he simply oozes class. He looks well placed in this company, and the track will suit his racing pattern and style. Yes please!

Private Eye is watching you! The eight-year-old marvel is always thereabouts, and his versatility is nothing short of exceptional. The current track conditions suit to a tee, and he looks well placed under the weight-for-age scale. His first-up performance was classy, and I suspect this is his main assignment for his winter campaign. He will look the winner as they cut the ribbons. An owner’s dream!

Suggested Bet: Jimmysstar @ $3.00

#15 Soverato

Soverato arrives in Brisbane up and about after producing an impressive autumn campaign. The Vadamos filly was only nabbed in the shadows in the Adrian Knox, and she was good without featuring in a hot edition of the Group 1 ATC Oaks. Her residual fitness should be front and centre, and a recent barrier trial put the writing on the wall for another bold showing. From the wide gate, she will drift back and find her hooves, and if she can stay in touch with the bunny throughout, she will figure in the finish. Over the odds!

Accidental Bid is out for redemption after warming the bench in Adelaide. The former English galloper oozes class, and the big boy has upside for days. His recent performances in Victoria have turned heads in racing circles, and comparisons with Russian Camelot have been made public from the astute yard. His turn of foot is significant, and he looks a Group 1 winner in waiting. The class rise is the primary concern.

Suggested Bet: Soverato @ $9.00

Scone Race 7

#1 Nepo Baby

Nepo Baby is knocking on the door. The Lucky Vega filly hasn’t missed the trifecta since Joe Bidden was in nappies, and she finds the right race on Saturday. Her record at the trip is perfect, and the form around her must be respected. She has tasted success at the track previously, and I expect her to peak for for Listed assignment. She will pilot the field and look the winner as heads turn for home!

Mercy Me is building a nice picket fence next to her name. The Hellbent filly looks talented, and she keeps raising the bar with each performance and victory. This is her hardest test to date, however; she looks up to the challenge. The 54kg could prove decisive, and her double-figure quote has been more than nibbled at. Over the odds!

Suggested Bet: Nepo Baby @ $6.00

Scone Race 8

#15 Golden Straand

Golden Straand is winning for fun at present. The Snitzel entire is a 1100m specialist, and he deserves his shot at this level. The talented four-year-old possesses a significant turn of foot, and his opening quote has been smashed since acceptances were finalised. From the carpark draw he will settle back and give his rivals a head start, however; he will be finishing the strongest with even luck in-transit. Hard to toss!

Our Kobison is racing better than it reads in the bible. The rising seven-year-old has raced against some handy gallopers, and he finds a winnable third-up assignment. The inside draw should give his rivals sleepless nights leading into the event, and the 53.5kg is more than luxurious. He tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of a contest.

Suggested Bet: Golden Straand @ $5.00

Scone Race 10

#1 Estadio Mestalla

Estadio Mestalla can run a race at odds. His first-up run at Hawkesbury over an unsuitable distance was first-class, and he strips fitter as a result. The step out in trip suits, and current give in the track plays into his favour. The form around him has stood up time and again, and his spring campaign was nothing short of brilliant. He may need one more run under the belt and over further, however; his best performance here will prove too strong for his rivals.

Linebacker is knocking on the door. The drop-in class helps his case, and his record on the trip is near-perfect. His exposed form at the top level speaks volumes, and I suspect he has the fitness edge on the majority on his rivals. His recent winning record and his performances on soft tracks are among the primary concerns.

Suggested Bet: Estadio Mestalla @ $18.00
