Canterbury Park and Geelong are the main metropolitan meetings this Wednesday. Find out below who our experts are expecting to take home the mid-week cash!
CANTERBURY PARK Race 5
#3 Spanish Artist
Spanish Artist has made a near-perfect start to her racing career. Her debut victory was first-class, and she was game in defeat at her latest outing. The Trapeze Artist filly finds a winnable assignment third-up, and she is ideally drawn. The step-out in the trip is advantageous, and the money trail tells a story. Hard to toss!
Erin Jo was a brilliant winner at Warwick Farm during January. Her recent performance at Newcastle was rock-solid, and she looks well placed in this company. The camp is flying at present, and I suspect she still has room for improvement in her preparation. The middle draw is perfect, and the step out in trip could prove fruitful in the mix.
Shotgun Bella is a model of consistency. The Shooting To Win mare hasn’t missed a top-four spot since the moon landing, and I suspect she has the fitness edge on the majority of her rivals. The apprentice claim could prove a masterstroke, and she has been specked at a price. Her racing pattern and style always requires an element of good fortune.
Suggested Bet: Spanish Artist @ $2.40
Canterbury Park RACE 7
#5 Xpresso
Xpresso is ready to win. All runs this campaign have been good without scoring, and he finds a winnable event on Wednesday. His form is better than it reads in the bible at present, and the big boy should be rock-hard fit with several tough runs under his belt. He finds his pet distance, and the 2kg apprentice claim could prove the winning difference. He needs to put another victory on the board!
Fiorenza will have plenty of supporters after hitting the line strongly first-up from a spell at Hawkesbury. The Kingman mare strips fitter following recent racing, and I suspect Canterbury will suit her racing pattern and style. The current track conditions suit to a tee, and there has been significant market support early doors. The carpark draw is the biggest deterrent.
Against The Law is poised to strike third-up from a spell. The Lean Mean Machine gelding has put the writing on the wall all campaign, and I suspect he has been trained to the minute for this assignment. The 1100m suits, and the inform Zac Lloyd should fill his followers with confidence. Watch for him late!
Geelong Race 5
#2 Hot Chips
Hot Chips was a dominant winner at Cranbourne at her latest outing. The step out in trip looks ideal at this stage of her preparation, and the key booking of Daniel Stackhouse should raise some eyebrows. Benchmark 70 shouldn’t hold any concerns, and she is rock-hard after being up longer than a big bash season. She will look the winner as they run for the doctor.
Eternal is racing well at present. The Chris Waller-trained Epaulette mare was a brilliant winner two starts back at Caulfield, and she was game in defeat at her latest outing. She races well on top of the ground, and she looks the class runner of the field on exposed form. The Mark Zahra factor must be respected, and her opening quote has received strong support. Her record at the trip is the primary concern.
Yoomee Wonder has been racing well in lower grades. The Flying Artie mare deserves her shot in this line-up, and the inside draw brings her into all winning conversations. She has been well supported in most all-in markets, and she looks progressive. Acid test!
Geelong Race 7
#12 Justique
Justique looks the best bet in a tricky, competitive program. The Justify filly has made a near-perfect start to her racing career, and I suspect a victory here could catapult her into some lofty events. The longer trip suits, and I expect her to jump in the red if the tsunami of early money continues. One to watch moving forward, regardless of the result on Wednesday. Progressive!
Delta Sky meets easier opposition. The Toronado mare has been racing in better events, and the form around her is first-class. Her record on the trip is near-perfect, and barrier three should give her key rivals sleepless nights leading into this event. Ready to win!
Move The Torana looks dangerous dropping back in trip. The bonny four-year-old mare never runs a bad race, and she looks well placed in this company. The middle draw will offer multiple options in the run, and her opening quote has been nibbled at. She can run a big race with even luck in transit.
