Caulfield Race 5

#5 Jimmy Recard

Jimmy Recard looks talented. The I Am Invincible colt is chasing a hatrick of victories, and he deserves his shot at this level on Saturday. The Ciaron Maher trained galloper has the ability to record sizzling late sectionals, and his cruising speed is exceptional for his age and limited racing experience. Barrier one will allow him to roll forward and find a prominent position, and if is presented with his run at the right time, it could be all over bar the shouting.

Tycoon Star will have plenty of supporters after winner the Maribyrnong Plate on debut. The rest of the campaign was honest, and the form around the Written Tycoon colt reads incredibly well for this event. Two recent barrier trials looked ominous, and I suspect he will be fully wound up for his fresh assignment. From barrier two he wil camp on the heels of the leaders, and if he sees clear air as they swing the bend, he will figure in the finish. Acid test.

Suggested Bet: Jimmy Recard @ $4.00

Caulfield Race 6

#4 Scenic Point

Scenic Point looks one of the better bets on a tricky and competitive program. The undefeated Written Tycoon filly oozes class, and I suspect she has a massive spring in front of her. Her victories to date have been effortless, and she has been well supported in several long range feature markets. The inside draw will allow her to occupy the box seat throughout, and if she sees daylight as heads turn for home, I expect her to prove too strong late. Big future!

The Playwright has been well supported since acceptances. The Written By filly boasts consistent autumn form, and I suspect she will be cherry ripe for a first-up tilt after producing several eye-catching barrier trials. Her record at the trip must be respected, and the Blake Shinn and Gai Waterhouse combination puts her into all winning calculations. The logical danger to the favourite.

Suggested Bet: Scenic Point @ $2.50

#4 Losesomewinmore

Losesomewinmore is winning for fun. The All Too Hard gelding has won two on the bounce, and the big boy looks to have this event at his mercy. The featherweight is advantageous, and he is perfectly drawn in a middle alley. The key booking of champion Craig Williams puts one hoof on the till, and the big boys should be rock-hard fit after a successful campaign to date.  I am unsure the Heath will suit his racing pattern and style.

Royal Insignia looks talanted. He performed well in some serious races against his own age last preparation, and the Written Tycoon entire has been breaking the clock at the jump outs. The inside draw gives him a significant leg up, and his camp train three-year-olds better than anyone else in the country. How he tackles and fares against the older and more experienced gallopers is the unknown.

Suggested Bet: Losesomewinmore @ $5.00

CAULFIELD Race 8

#1 Private Eye

Private Eye heads to Melbourne after failing to gain a gurnsey at Royal Randwick last weekend. His recent perfromance in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap is still fresh in the memory bank, and he is easily the class runner and the one to beat on Saturday. The Al Maher gelding should be ready to fire after a little freshen up, and I suspect his he will use this event to springboard into another successful spring campaign. The predicated soft conditions will suit the veteran galloper, and he has been well supported early doors. Hard to toss!

Here To Shock is a marvel. The Shocking gelding performed incredibly well last campaign, and the form around him is elite and world class. His record at the trip is outrageous, and there has been a tsunami of money for the big boy since fields were finalised. I would prefer to invest on his chances third-up from a spell over a mile at this stage of his career. He will be thereabouts.

Suggested Bet: Private Eye @ $3.10

Rosehill Gardens Race 5

#5 Pallaton

Pallaton was consistently supported during his debut campaign. The Wootton Bassett colt probably didn’t live up to the high expectations, and he was well beaten in his hardest test to date. I except him to return to racing bigger and better after a lengthy spell, and his recent barrier trial should give his key rivals sleepless nights leading into Saturday’s event. Major player.

Skyhook will have plenty of supporters after sensationally winning the Pago Pago at his third career start. The Written Tycoon gelding was far from disgraced in the Golden Slipper, and I suspect the camp have some lofty spring events on the radar. The enigmatic three-year-old has upside and progression for days, and it may pay dividends to follow him moving forward. Acid test.

Suggested Bet: Pallaton @ $2.50

rOSEHILL GARDENS Race 7

#4 Birdman

Birdman has been trialing exceptional well leading into his first-up assignment. The Free Eagle gelding traditionally motors fresh, and he will appreciate the sting out of the ground. The James McDonald and Chris Waller combination will attract plenty of late market support, and he looks the class runner of the field. He may find the 1400m too sharp at this stage of his campaign.

War Eternal is ready to explode third-up from a spell. Both performances this preparation have been ominous, and the step out to 1400m looks ideal at this stage of his campaign. The Pierro gelding has been missed by the handicapper, and the consistent seven-year-old grows an extra leg in the wet. He tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of the contest.

Suggested Bet: Birdman @ $3.80
