RANDWICK Race 7

#3 Buffalo

Buffalo is ready to explode. The Written By gelding was luckless late in the Group 1 Sires’, and the step out to the mile looks ideal at this stage of his campaign. The form out of that race has already been franked, and he is ideally drawn in barrier five for Saturday’s assignment. His racing pattern and style always requires an element of good fortune.

Nepotism will start race favourite after producing a stunning last-start victory at Rosehill. The Brutal colt has made an impressive start to his racing career, and he deserves his shot at this level. The big boy has been well supported since markets opened, and I suspect he has more upside and progression than the majority of his rivals. The class rise and carpark draw are among the primary concerns.

Suggested Bet: Buffalo @ $7.00

RANDWICK Race 8

#2 Briasa

Briasa is a winning machine. The Smart Missile gelding has made an incredible start to his racing career, and his camp has been very open and public about his talent and potential future. The enigmatic four-year-old took out a thrilling edition of the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes on the wire, and the step out to 1400m looks ideal at this stage of his preparation. An inside draw is advantageous, and he looks well suited under the weight-for-age conditions. The one to beat!

Broadsiding was a determined winner of the Rosehill Guineas over the eventual AJC Derby Champion Aeliana. The Too Darn Hot colt hung on for dear life in the shadows, and his grit and resilience was front and centre. The big boy has been freshened up since, and a recent barrier trial should give his key rivals sleepless nights leading into Saturday’s feature event. I am yet to decide if the drop back to 1400m from 2000m is advantageous.

Suggested Bet: Briasa @ $3.50

#11 Age Of Kings

Age Of Kings is over the odds. The Kingman gelding raced well throughout the spring, and his recent trials were ominous. The form around Another Wil and Jimmysstar reads incredibly well for this event, and he finds his pet distance. The talented five-year-old traditionally performs well first-up, and he is ideally drawn in barrier five. If he is fully wound-up for his fresh assignment, I expect him to figure in the finish at the cricket-score odds.

Dragonstone will have plenty of supporters after producing an eye-catching performance at his latest outing. His effort prior in the Group 1 Galaxy was good without threatening, and he look well placed in this company. The consistent six-year-old is rock-hard fit after a solid campaign, and I suspect this will be his last outing of his autumn campaign. Too classy to pot.

Suggested Bet: Age Of Kings @ $61.00

RANDWICK Race 10

#16 Cool Jakey

Cool Jakey snatched defeat from the jaws of victory at his latest outing. The Pierro gelding was home bar the shouting, and it was a painful watch for his supporters. He gets in extremely well at the weights with a luxurious 52.5kg, and he looks the likely leader on paper. From the awkward gate he will roll forward and find the bunny, and if he is allowed to dictate the tempo throughout, he will look the winner as they run for the doctor. The class rise is the primary concern.

Tavi Time resumes with a string of impressive barrier trials under his belt. The versatile five-year-old is a 1400m specialist, and his record first-up speaks volumes. The key appointment of James McDonald will attract plenty of market support, and the current track conditions will suit the big boy to a tee. I’d prefer to back him deeper into his campaign.

Suggested Bet: Cool Jakey @ $6.00

Mornington Race 7

#14 Storm Season

Storm Season is coming off a forgive run. The Toronado filly had genuine excuses, and I suspect the camp are out for redemption on Saturday. The flashy three-year-old has plenty of improvement to come for the preparation, and her best here could be fences and panels better than her rivals. The mile suits at this stage of her campaign, and I suspect her quote will shorten dramatically before the barriers open. Take on trust.

Sneaky Sunrise is racing well without winning at present. The Autumn Sun filly will appreciate the significant drop-in class, and she has been well supported in most all-in markets. The astute Hayes camp have a high opinion of the enigmatic three-year-old, and I suspect this event has been a long-range target. The horror draw is the primary concern.

Suggested Bet: Storm Season @ $6.00

Mornington Race 8

#1 Just Fine

Just Fine is ready to win. Both performances this campaign have been pleasing, and I suspect the Sea The Stars gelding will explode over the longer trip on Saturday. The rising eight-year-old has shown glimpses of his impressive Group 1 form, and he is easily the class runner of the field. From the middle draw the old boy will roll forward and control the tempo, and if he can stack them up before they swing for home, the fat lady could be singing before the final furlong.

Berkshire Breeze will start favourite after narrowly being tossed by the progressive Deakin at Flemington. The Mastercraftsman gelding produced sizzling late sectionals to challenge, and I suspect he entered most punters little black books. His record at the distance must be respected, and he usually produces his best performances at this stage of his campaigns. I am unsure the tight turning Mornington circuit will suit his racing pattern and style.

Suggested Bet: Just Fine @ $6.00
