Canterbury Park and Sandown Lakeside are the feature meetings this Wednesday. With the new racing season here and spring fast approaching, find out who our experts expect to take home the cash!
Canterbury Park Race 6
#3 Flying Destiny
Flying Destiny is ready to win! The Flying Artie gelding is coming off a string of narrow losses, and I suspect he has found the right race on Wednesday. He is drawn ideally in barrier two, and he finds his pet distance. The early money has been constant for the consistent five-year-old, and he looks great each-way value.
Too Much Caviar is over the odds. The All Too Hard gelding has turned heads recently at the barrier trials, and I suspect he has been set for a first-up tilt. From barrier four, the unpredictable seven-year-old will pilot the field, and if he can pinch some cheap sectionals throughout, he can cause a major upset. Worth some thought!
Cloudland is the class runner of the field. His best form reads extremely well for this event and traditionally performs well fresh. The 3kg apprentice claim could prove a training masterstroke, and his record at the distance must be respected. It may pay dividends to watch for any significant market support.
Suggested Bet: Flying Destiny @ $6.00
Canterbury Park RACE 7
#5 Yasuke
Yasuke is poised to strike! Both runs this campaign have caught the eyes of punters, and I expect the Maurice gelding has been trained to the minute for this third-up assignment. From barrier nine, he will sit midfield with cover, and if Nash Rawiller presents the big boy with his run at the right time, he will prove too strong late for his rivals. He needs to put another win on the board!
Noble Conqueror can win despite jumping from a different suburb. The Churchill gelding has been racing consistently well in Victoria this campaign and looks well-placed in this company. The current track conditions are favourable, and I suspect his quote will continue to shorten before the barriers open.
Scalextrics is building a picket fence next to his name. The So You Think gelding is winning for fun at present, and he deserves his shot at this level on Wednesday. The 3kg apprentice claim puts him into all winning conversations, and I suspect the gritty on-pace runner will give a bold sight. The class rise is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Yasuke @ $5.00
Sandown Lakeside Race 6
#3 Fretta
Fretta looks one of the better bets on a tricky and competitive program. The Frankel mare was good without winning fresh, and she put the writing on the wall for a breakthrough campaign. She strips fitter after her recent outing and is drawn to perfection in barrier three. The 3kg apprentice claim puts one hoof on the till, and there has been an avalanche of money for her since markets opened. Her racing pattern and style will always require an element of luck.
Morryl Moral has finished on the heels of the winner at his latest two outings. The Lope De Vega gelding keeps hitting the line well, and I suspect his next win is just around the corner. He looks well placed in this company, and the step out in distance is ideal at this stage of his preparation. He keeps finding one or two better on race day!
Way Up High can run a drum at cricket score odds. The Last Typhoon mare was a brilliant last start winner at Sandown-Hillside, and I suspect she can continue on his winning ways with the right run in-transit. The 3kg apprentice claim is advantageous, and I suspect he is rock-hard fit after a lengthy campaign. Over the odds!
Suggested Bet: Fretta @ $2.60
Sandown Lakeside Race 7
#2 Etienne
Etienne is edging towards his next victory. The Capitalist gelding will appreciate the longer trip, and he looks perfectly drawn in a middle gate. Tom Prebble will roll the enigmatic five-year-old forward, and if he can find the bunny uncontested during the race’s early stages, he will prove hard to run down. Ready to win!
South Of Houston is coming off a forgive run. It may pay dividends to forget the Deep Field mare went around, and I suspect she can bounce back on Wednesday. Barrier one will allow her to occupy the boxset throughout, and the 1200m is arguably her best trip. She may need some lucking getting off the dulex as they run for the doctor.
Toff Choice is over the odds. The Toorak Toff gelding savaged the line first-up at Pakenham, and he looks dangerous jumping from a perfect inside draw. The longer trip is in his wheelhouse, and he traditionally preforms well second-up from a spell. The class rise is the primary concern.
Suggested Bet: Etienne @ $7.00
