NFL Futures – 2023-24 Regular Season MVP

Five weeks into the 2023-24 NFL season & the star players are starting to make their mark on the competition. BetDeluxe looks at the top chances for MVP.

We’re five rounds into the NFL season, and the MVP candidates are starting to put their hands up.

From Patrick Mahomes to Christian McCaffrey, our expert team has analysed every player and delivered the best bets for the 2023-24 NFL MVP.

patrick Mahomes (Chiefs)

$4.50

I mean, who else?

The two-time MVP and Kansas City Chiefs superstar is once again at the top of the betting for this year’s award, having previously taken it home in 2018 and 2022.

It hasn’t been the most dominant start to the season for the reigning champion, who ranks slightly down in most categories, including passing yards (7th) and TDs (6th). Despite this, Mahomes has still led his side to a 4-1 record and equal-first in the AFC.

The prodigiously talented QB’s ability to make something out of nothing is unmatched, as is his ability to play through significant pain and injury (see last year’s final).

As he attempts to join the likes of Tom Brady (3), Aaron Rodgers (4) and Peyton Manning (5) with at least three MVP Awards, it would take a brave punter to write off the champ in his prime.

Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins)

$6.00

No player has started the season in better form than the King of Miami, Tua Tagovailoa, and the $6 on offer might present the best value of any player five rounds into the season.

The Dolphins’ QB, who ranks 1st for passing yards and equal-2nd for TDs, has led the Dolphins to an incredible 4-1 start and the most points (181) of any side in the NFL. They’ve defeated the Chargers, Patriots, Broncos, and the Giants, with Tua throwing 309 yards and four TDs in his side’s 70-20 world-beating demolition of Denver.

According to Pro Football Reference, Tagovailoa’s 58.2% success rate on dropbacks is the best in football.

With Tyreek Hill the most dominant wide receiver in the NFL, Tua has every chance to create the most impressive duo and lead the Dolphins deep into the post-season.

Josh Allen (Bills)

$7.50

While Buffalo have commenced the season with an unimpressive 3-2 record, there’s no doubting that Josh Allen is one player who can hold his head high.

One of the most prodigiously talented QBs in the NFL, Allen has thrown 11 TDs and 1407 passing yards from his first five games.

While he made no friends when he threw three interceptions in the season opener, Allen has bounced back in a big way with a four-TD outing in the Bills’ 48-20 victory over Miami.

Allen’s chances will rely heavily on the Bills improving over the next month and putting the losses to the Jets and Jaguars behind them.

Christian McCaffrey (49ers)

$19.00

It was either going to be McCaffrey or Brock Purdy ($7.50) here, as both are clearly in the conversation on the back of San Francisco’s incredible start to the season.

We’ve decided to go with star running back McCaffrey as a genuine value selection at $19, with his 510 rushing yards 50 more than Miami’s De’Von Achance (460) in second.

After missing the best part of two seasons with injury and joining the 49ers last October, McCaffrey has exploded as the #1 weapon on a team that ranks 2nd for offense behind the Dolphins.

His 99 carries rank 1st in the league, while he has dropped seven TDs alongside Purdy’s nine.

With the 49ers simply dominating at 5-0, don’t sleep on the $19 comeback star from San Francisco.
