It is off to Pakenham for synthetic-surface racing ahead of Tuesday’s eight-race meeting.
The Punter’s Prince has found some juicy each-way bets to get a hold of.
pakenham Race 1
#10 jolie christie
Jolie Christine is fit and holding her form quite well.
Her ratings to date are good enough to win this maiden race, and the step up to the mile is OK.
She ran a strong race behind a genius type called Hollywood Siren at Mornington last start, and that form looks like it will undoubtedly hold up here.
I expect her to find the lead and dictate the race pace out in front.
The Grahame Begg stable also looks like it is about to hit some good form.
Suggested Bet: Jolie Christine win at $2.70
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 4, 7, 10
pakenham race 2
#12 miss november
A slightly speculative play on Miss November here.
Her jump-outs leading into this new campaign were slightly dour, so the mile looks like it will suit her here after a reasonable first-up effort.
She was in an awkward spot three-back on the rail at Pakenham over 1400 meters and could never build her momentum and stride until the last 350 metres.
Blinkers go on for the first, and Daniel Moor takes the ride.
Those are two very positive changes for this filly, and they could lead to a spike in her race-day performance.
Suggested Bet: Miss November each way at $10 the win and $3 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 4 & 12
pakenham race 4
#3 bazinga bazinga
Bazinga Bazinga comes from the Clayton Douglas stable, hitting form at the right time.
The three-year-old gelding has had two jumpouts – one of which there was no vision for – and looked pretty slick in his most recent effort on May 18.
He showed good speed away from the gates when leading on a heavy track at Balnarring and was eased towards the outside fence.
Doubt we were able to see what talent this horse has on such a wet track, and he should be better served high-balling out in the lead on the synthetic surface.
I think his price will shorten if he maps to settle on speed as predicted.
Suggested Bet: Bazinga Bazinga each way at $10 for the win and $3.20 for the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 3, 5
pakenham race 9
#10 sheza sniper
Sheza Sniper is going well to suggest she can scorch home to win this race.
The four-year-old mare has been toiling away without winning and finally finds a race where the set-up looks good.
She was too far back in a slowly run race at this track and distance last start.
With Zac Spain going on, he is sure to settle her closer in the run from barrier six on her home track.
I am making her the best of the day.
Suggested Bet: Sheza Sniper win at $3.90
