Nothing beats a country cup on Sunday afternoon!
Echuca Cup Day has the BetDeluxe racing analysts up and about for the best bets on the eight-race card.
echuca race 3
#2 fiorente's girl
Fiorente’s Girl has shown steady improvement since joining the Nick Ryan stable.
What she did at Pakenham over 1400 metres last start was a flashing-light run and she faces much easier opposition than she did in that race.
Getting up to the mile is where she does her best racing and she is going to take heaps of fitness benefit from her effort at Pakenham.
She made a nice mid-race surge and just knocked up late in the race, which suggests she has more to come given she had a gap between runs last week.
The weight is of no concern given how the weighs have been scaled in the race and the last time she raced at BM-58 level she was victorious all the way back in April 2020.
Suggested Bet: Fiorente’s Girl each-way at $5.5 the win and $2.15 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 11
echuca race 4
#3 forever free
To put it simply, Forever Free is the fastest and zippiest horse in this race.
She resumes off a lengthy spell following two slick jump outs at Flemington over 800 metres.
The now four-year-old mare won both of those heats and will have a good base of fitness to run somewhere near best.
She always races well when fresh with three first-up efforts yielding two wins.
Damian Lane should settle one back the inside or he may even opt to lead with her should she ping the lids.
Expecting her to be too quick for this lot.
Suggested Bet: Forever Free win at $2
echuca race 7
#8 embolism
Embolism pops up in the Echuca Cup after a last-start failure at Morphettville in BM-86 grade as a $3 elect back on February 19.
Something clearly was not right with him on that day, but the market was expecting him to run well.
Going to put some credence into that starting price and the fact Damian Lane has opted to jump aboard this horse.
Lane has combined successfully with Danny O’Brien over the last few weeks and he would not be riding this horse if he had nothing to give here.
Expect a sharp elevation off what he did last start and let us not forget he is a Group 1 placed horse.
His best would win this.
Suggested Bet: Embolism win at $4.80
Suggested Exotic: Boxed First Four – 2, 7, 8, 9
echuca race 8
#6 riddlero
Riddlero looks to have come back a much better horse than he was last preparation.
He showed great progression through his first campaign by getting his maiden out of the way in great style and then progressing to BM-64 level in the city when finishing third at Sandown.
His jump outs have been sensational with a sharp win over 900 metres and then another win over 1000 metres at Benalla.
He is hard to fault coming into this race given his on-the-pace running pattern.
Should be able to lead or hold down a spot on the leaders back.
Either way, he is the one to beat.
Suggested Bet: Riddlero win at $3.80
