The first meeting of the week in Victoria goes ahead when Kilmore hosts an eight-race card on Tuesday.
There looks to be a filly in the first that can run a race at massive odds.
Kilmore race 1
#13 War of Wisdom
War Of Wisdom trialled up impressively before a bang-average debut effort of 1100 metres at Kyneton.
She was a savage drifter late in the betting, which suggests she was not ready to run a strong race.
She still started well in the market as a $5 elect and that has to warrant respect in this race.
Think she will take natural development and derive fitness from having had the run.
We are now getting an enormous each-way price to see if she can replicate some of her trial form in this race.
Suggested Bet: War of Wisdom each-way at $41 the win and $8 the place
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 13
Kilmore race 2
#7 chain
Chain brings in far better credentials than any of the raced horses in this event and for that reason is the clear on-top selection.
The three-year-old gelding has jumped out like a bomb at Flemington and can easily break his maiden from a soft barrier with Craig Williams in the saddle.
Williams has come out to ride two other Chris Waller-trained horses, but this clearly looks the reason he has decided to venture over Kilmore.
Think Williams takes the sit in behind the leaders, peels out when he wants to find clear running and proves far too good for this lot.
Suggested Bet: Chain win at $1.80
Kilmore race 4
#11 winds of march
Winds of March would have caught the eye on the form guide, especially after his debut run at Werribee over 1400 metres.
The three-year-old gelding put in a weird run when looking buggered on the bend, but responding very well late in the piece to flash home in the last 200 metres.
He was hemmed away on the rail and crammed for runs throughout until the field hit the straight.
Seemed as though he raced a little flat footed and the wide barrier will be ideal for him in this race as it will allow him to be build momentum.
Suggested Bet: Winds Of March win at $4
Suggested Exotic: Boxed First Four – 3, 5, 10, 11
Kilmore Race 8
#1 Unconquered Sun
Drops considerably in grade from his last few runs and finds a very winnable race.
He has run in BM-64 grade in town at his two most recent efforts has been about four lengths off his rivals in both of those runs.
He gets up to 2000 metres for the first time in his career, but that should not be too much of a problem given he has a good base of residual fitness to handle the stamina test.
The three-kilo claim from Sheridan Clarke gets him in with 61.5kgs and that has to make him a solid each-way chance in a very plain race.
Suggested Bet: Unconquered Sun each-way at $7.5 the win and $2.2 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 8/ 1, 5, 8, 12/ 1, 4, 5, 8, 12
