Geelong Tips & Previews, Thursday 6th January

Geelong hosts a competitive eight-race card as the BetDeluxe team goes through all the best bets ahead of Thursday racing.

The Freedman team looks to have unearthed an exciting colt as we get set for the best bets from Geelong.

Race three also provides us with a strong betting opportunity.

GEelong race 1

#1 eros

Jamie Kah is not heading down to Geelong for one ride if she knows she is not going to be a winner.

This two-year-old colt by Group 1 winning sire Capitalist has shown nice ability in his two jump outs.

The strength and ability to hold a powerful stride towards the back end of his jump outs is what will hold him in good stead for this maiden event.

He looked ready to explode in his both his jump outs, especially the first where he was under a strangle hold.

A lot of these two-year-old horses can be prone to over-racing, so Kah will probably get this colt to settle nicely in the rear half of the field and then come at them with one run.

The one to beat and the bet of the day.

Suggested Bet: Eros win at $2.1

geelong race 3

#9 Peribaldo

Peribaldo is ready to become a winner after a very nice debut at Sandown over 1300 metres.

The three-year-old gelding trained by gun duo Ben & J D Hayes run well behind Lucky Decision who has since come out and bolted in to frank the form line.

An important gear change with the winkers going on has us even more confident he will show plenty of improvement from the run.

Jack Hill being booked is also a positive as he usually gets these types of horses running quickly out in the lead and that is what we expect will occur here.

Suggested Bet: Peribaldo win at $2.45

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 8, 9

geelong race 4

#9 Vosmaeri

Today looks the day for Vosmaeri to break her maiden status.

The five-year-old mare has been building towards big runs over the staying distances and looks very well conditioned to run strongly over 2400 metres.

She had the big fitness building run for this distance range last start when elevating from 1875 metres at Kyneton to 2400 metres at Geelong and she did a great job to run second behind Emerging.

Hoping Declan Bates is wise enough to hold the lead when the gates open up in order to use this galloper’s fitness advantage over main rival Silver Mayne.

Suggested Bet: Vosmaeri win at $2.3

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 9 & 4

Geelong race 8

#6 Drone Strike

Drone Strike is ready to return to the winners list in a race that looks to shape up nicely for him.

He was absolutely launched by the punters late in the betting at Yarra Glen in a BM-58 race, but just found the going a little too tough with the gap between runs and get a too far back being the likely factors for defeat.

Stepping up to 1400 metres should see him in closer to the leaders heading into the home straight and the natural aerobic benefit he will have derived from that Yarra Glen run will serve him well here.

Logan Mcneil claims 1.5kgs off the back of this horse and that could also prove a different at the pointy end of the race.

Expecting him to run top three at the very worst.

Suggested Bet: Drone Strike each-way at $5.5 the win and $2 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 6, 7
