Sandown Tips & Previews, Wednesday 8th December

Midweek racing finds its way to Sandown Hillside with the best bets on the eight-race twilight program.

Twilight racing takes us to Sandown Hillside for the Wednesday metro meeting in Victoria.

After what was a successful outing at Hamilton yesterday with the best bets yielding some nice winners, our best bets are littered throughout the eight-race card with plenty of value to be found.

Let’s keep the winning form going!

Sandown Race 1

#5 ripping belle

Taking a set against the market trend here and going with the filly who has drifted since markets opened in Ripping Belle.

She looks super professional and slick at both her trial wins which something you want to see in a young horse.

Seems to possess great early speed and a calm nature about her when travelling in the run.

She cornered like a greyhound in her most recent trial over 800 metres and the great thing about it was her stride after the post.

She was still keeping a margin on her rivals in a sign she will handle the 1000 metres on debut with no problems.

Suggested Bet: Ripping Belle win at $3

Suggested Exotic: 1 & 5

Sandown race 2

#5 newly wed

The Hawkes stable might have just found a nice staying filly in its ranks with three-year-old Newly Wed set to make her debut after some nice jump outs.

Love the way she has tanked up in her Flemington efforts and stayed strong through the line.

Her most recent jump out was probably the most impressive of the lot when asked to settle behind the leaders and then going straight past them after the finish post without being asked for an effort at all.

Jockey Jye Mcneil will not engage in the early speed battle predicted in this race, so expect her to be back in the run, but she seems to have the power to find her way to the line late in the race with electric pace.

Ready to run a big one at her first start and we are happy to make her the best of the day off what we have seen.

Suggested Bet: Newly Wed win at $4.4

Sandown race 5

#8 silk jacket

Silk Jacket takes a bit of a step up in grade, but looks well prepared for the rise to city class at BM-64 level.

She had her first 2400-metre this preparation at her last start and did a good enough to finish second as well-backed favourite when having to carry 60kgs.

She now draws barrier four in town and will get the ideal run-in-transit in order to see her produce her best.

This is Fred Kersley’s only ride of the day which is a sign that this horse is ready to find the winning post in the first place for the third time in her career.

Suggested Bet: Silk Jacket each-way $11 the win and $3.10 the place

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 8

sandown race 7

#14 designs

Third-up and ready to produce her best run this preparation with a nice fitness base.

She raced up on the speed at Sandown last start when second-up over the mile and just felt the pinch of the race late in the piece when she could not keep out I Am News.

The four-year-old mare was a slight drifter in the market despite starting favourite, which tells us she was not fully revved up to run to her absolute best.

With that run under her belt, we expect at least two to three lengths of elevation to come on current form.

Anything in that realm will see her hard in the finish here.

Suggested Bet: Designs win at $2.90
