Brisbane vs. Western Bulldogs

September 4th 7:20pm

Brisbane welcomes the Western Bulldogs to the Gabba for a massive semi-final on Saturday night as both teams continue to find ways to deal without pivotal key forwards.

The Lions lost Daniel McStay to concussion in their 33-point loss to Melbourne at Adelaide Oval last week, while the Bulldogs finally found a way to deal in life without gun forward Josh Bruce in their demolition job of Essendon.

Cody Weightman proved the unlikely hero in the elimination down in Tasmania last week with four goals helping seal a big form reversal for the Dogs who looked out on their feet heading into September.

But a test against the Lions at their den will be a monumental task.

Lachie Neale was incredible in the loss the Melbourne as he amassed 46 disposals in attempt to will his side over the line.

Charlie Cameron produced a stunning five-goal display, but it was to little avail.

It will be interesting to see how the Lions deal without McStay who has become an integral part of their scoring system.

The home crowd will also play a factor in what is set to be a tight contest.

Prediction: Lions by 2 points

Suggested Bet: Western Bulldogs +7.5 at $1.91

Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Western Bulldogs +7.5
Leg 2: J. Daniher 2+ goals
Leg 3: Total point scored under 163.5
Combined odds = $8

First goal scorer

J. Daniher/A. Naughton

Going with the tall timber to kick the first goal of the game.

Joe Daniher was kept goalless against Melbourne last week and will be eager to make amends for that display.

He actually had one of the first shots of the game which ended up being touched right on the line.

Western Bulldogs key forward Aaron Naughton will be relied upon by side to be the focal point up front with the absence of Josh Bruce.

Suggested Bet:
Joe Daniher first goal at $11
Aaron Naughton first goal at $10

Total points scored

Under 163.5

Picking the unders in this game.

The last time these two teams met we only had a score of 127 points at Mars Stadium back in Round 4.

It was a wet, wild and windy day in Ballarat and it would have an effect on the score not being overly high, but with Josh Bruce and Daniel McStay out, the avenues to goal might be harder to come by.

Suggested Bet:
Total points scored over 163.5 at $1.90
