Thursday racing at Cranbourne.
The Wizard of Odds crosses the “T’s” and dots the “I’s” for the best bets ahead of the eight-race program.
Cranbourne Race 1
#11 Jupitus
Jupitus showed he is ready to run a good race on debut after two solid jump outs at Flemington.
The first of those he was not asked to do much over 800 metres and showed a nice running style with a professional head carriage.
The second of his jump outs showed his ability to want to chase down horses after being beaten in the trial by at least five lengths but making up significant ground on the winner after the post.
He stuck his neck out with each stride in the straight and from barrier five on debut he should enjoy a perfect run one-off the fence with cover.
Looks a nice each-way bet to start the day.
Suggested Bet: Jupitus each-way at $11 the win and $3.4 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 4, 11
Cranbourne Race 4
#12 Zidler
We might have gone and backed Zidler one start prior to him peaking this preparation after he could only managed a second-placed finish behind Jens last start.
The three-year-old gelding by Hinchinbrook whacked away well to finish a length off the eventual winner but should now be ready to win.
Draws a very soft barrier and engagement of Damien Oliver is a massive sign of intent from the Chris Waller stable.
In essence, if he cannot win this race today, then he probably won’t feature in the best bets for this page anytime soon.
Suggested Bet: Zidler win at $2.6
Cranbourne Race 5
#2 Alexander Hamilton
Looks as though Alexander Hamilton has best the form on paper as well as the perfect trailing run in this race.
Stepped up to 1600 metres last start in a BM-70 at Sandown and despite starting $151 he far from disgraced himself to finish eighth of 14 runners behind the smart Chief Altony.
He is yet to miss a place at this distance range from six attempts which also includes two wins.
He took a liking for this track last year when winning his only start at the venue albeit over 1400 metres.
Races off an eight-day back up and he is ready to peak at this distance range.
Suggested Bet: Alexander Hamilton win at $4.6
Suggested Exotics: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 5, 6, 8
Cranbourne Race 6
#3 lord lennox
His first-up run on a heavy Moe track over 1600 metres in BM-64 was a complete forgive.
Clearly did not handle the track conditions and he got way too far back to make any meaningful impact on the race.
Back onto a drier surface and an inside barrier should see him settle much closer to the speed.
Lewis German hops on instead of Alana Kelly and his strong riding style should see this horse improve significantly.
Expect a much better performance from this horse to day and we get nice each-way odds.
Suggested Bet: Lord Lennox each-way at $23 the win and $5.5 the place.
Cranbourne race 7
#1 redefine
Redefine has found racing above BM-64 a touch too difficult this preparation and his trainer Rebecca Frost has opted for a much easier race this time around.
The seven-year-old gelding has done his racing on during the Sandown midweeks at his two most recent starts with his last effort being the pick of those.
The last time he raced in BM-64 grade he had Celine Gaudray on board and graced the finish post in first place.
Gaudray takes the ride again and expect her to press forward from the wide gate in attempt to find the lead on what is usually a leader friendly track.
Suggested Bet: Redefine each-way at $10 the win and $3.3 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 4
